My shot of the hut - it's not a car park as far as I know unless it's used as an overflow for the Shelsey Beauchamp hill climb. I have no idea why there is such a grand gate there plus hut. Now I'll have to find out. The field is just grazing land for the sheep.

I thought many of the images were strange rather than mysterious, but many others rose well to the challenge. A difficult one this time, but well done to all who entered.
And next?
Best regards, John
Many thanks for awarding my entry first place.
Right up to Saturday I could not come up with a mysterious idea. However the mist on Saturday seeded some ideas and I went out on my bike early on Sunday and the idea firmed up.
Having got the background shot I knew what I wanted to do but had no idea on how to achieve it. I have Photoshop Elements 4 which I had only used for very basic correction like cropping, sharpening and tinkering with highlights & shadows. However there is nothing like having an objective to achieve to help with learning how to use a tool. I now know a little bit about the magic wand tool and layers. So you have my thanks for this too.
I have to admit having submitted the picture I spent a long while wondering if ghosts actually have reflections

I am looking forward to judging my first competition. I hope I won't disappoint you all.
Glyn
Thanks to Timbo for judging, and commenting on each picture as well as a round up here.
I agree with John "Its the best of both worlds"
On to the next one

All cameras are equal but.....
Some are more equal than others
JOSH.
My shot was created using a three second exposure with my other half dressed for the part moving forward from the door once the shutter opened. Frustratingly it looks as though it was created on the computer, and it may even have looked better if it had been. Oh well, it was fun to take, and gave a variety of people passing a mystery to ponder.
Thanks to my other half for her help, and for suggesting the commended composition.
Robert.

Glynm: Very dark and mysterious. Well thought out and executed, nothing else to Say. 1ST PLACE
Rob: Well thought out and setup image. Spotting the doorway and blending the womans image so it looks as if she is a ghost coming out. Nice composition as well. 2ND PLACE
conspicuity: Nice quality image, good composition and exposure, and what is the other side of the bridge? 3RD PLACE
Mikew: Why the split in the road, and why the little wooden building in the middle? Nice mono shot, well exposed and composed - and I've just got it, I think its a car park and the attendants hut, but I had to think. HIGHLY COMMENDED
Galoot: Nice mono image with a great sky. The line of fenceposts and cross adds the mystery. COMMENDED
Johnriley: Nice grain and lighting, with the windows standing out. While there appears to be no details in the trees that adds rather than detracts from the image. COMMENDED
