Weekly Competition #610 - Urban Renewal Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 31/03/2019
Judge: tyronet2000

I'm sure we have all seen Old mixed with New in towns and cities. I'm looking for images which clearly show this and how they seem meld or otherwise together.
Usual Pentax Weekly rules apply, no limit on date but must be taken with Pentax or clone equipment. Good Luck everyone.

Thanks to those who entered this weekly competition. A good effort by all and a wide variety of images to choose from. The decision as to the winner was not an easy one.

Old Bridge and New Bridge by Perspicador. A nice clean image but a different point of view clearly showing both bridges would have helped

Arley Old and New by johnriley. The sort of image I was looking for. Old and New merged together and making a complete perfect match.

A century across the Tamar by mikeprotts. Not an easy shot getting to show both bridges.

The Old Shot Tower by Nigelk. Certainly an unusal construction. It looks like the "Gherkin" in London is built around the original building.

Newcastle upon Tyne by newbiek50user. I have seen a lot of changes here with old and the modern living side by side. Not sure about the swing bridge rail cutting off the base of the image.

Those were the days by ken2390. There is not enough detail in this image to show exactly what I'm looking at.

Kings Cross Gasholders by smudge. Certainly a good use of these structures. Makes me want to see inside as the shape makes me think it must be like living in a lighthouse.

Urban Art by paulb531. I think a view of some of old Sheffield with these very modern looking buildings would have been better

Present and Future by Simonmac. A good mono image capturing the old and the new. I think the choice of mono for this was good.

Button Mural by Noelcmn. I did like this image but it doesn't show a lot of the "old".

1st Place Arley Old and New by johnriley

2nd Place Present and Future by Simonmac

3rd Place King Cross Gasholders by smudge

I am sorry - it is really not realistic to be demanding a different viewpoint from the one I have proffered here - there is the small matter of the Firth of Forth in the way. My expectation is that you be more than satisfied with the perspective I am providing - which has been taken from the Rail Bridge, the next bridge along. so when you have your Pilot's license or your co-pilot has taken over the controls - maybe you can achieve the shot you require of me! Meanwhile, back to the omnipotent fantasy world of visionary photography,,,
