My love for photography is about the new perspectives that a camera can show us, new ways of seeing the world. One of the most important of these is the way that the camera sees time differently. It can freeze moments that don't exist in themselves, and it can create a sense of movement in a still image. For this week's competition I'm looking for photos that exploit the camera's unique relationship with time. |

Thanks for the nomination, Peter. Not sure who your other contenders were, but there are some very powerful images among the entry and I'm flattered that mine should have been chosen ahead of them. I rose particularly early this morning, in a bid to sneak in 90 minutes of photography before work-related nonsense intervenes. I shall conjure a competition before I depart...

I'll hazard fROSEn in time was one of the three.... that'd look good on a wall!!
And possibly suspended animation, which is is a real eye-twister...
you have to look thrice to realise that the picture isn't on the wonk...
and that IS a wall and doorway!!

Well done the winner, that was my choice too. Are we not to be advised anything about the others?
I struggled to find something in my archive taken positively with a Pentax. My suspect was a probably taken with a Chinon CE4 and no time to conjure up something specially in the three of four days available.
One of those entries looks vaguely familiar? Personally I'd have avoided using a previous winner (it wouldn't have seemed fair) but hey ho.

I came up with a top three pretty quickly, and the final winner I like for its simplicity, its subtlety and its colours.
