Bit shocked to have won last week but..... PentaxUser seems to be going from strength to strength, and Pentax as a brand is evolving and gaining momentum with the addition of a Full Frame camera and new lenses as well as strong sales for their Medium Format offerings, so my theme this week reflects the sense of progress, and is simply - "Forward!" As well as a direction, I had in mind that there are other interpretations and meanings to be had, perhaps sporting ones, perhaps a person acting precociously. "Forward" was even the motto of the last great Victorian railway company! A fairly conceptual theme this week, so let your imaginations run free. Closing date 23:59 on Sunday 15th March General rules are Pentax cameras only (plus Ricoh GR and Samsung DSLR clones), images can be any age |

1st Walking Man- see above comments
2nd -pathway to the future. John Riley A very strong composition an message- technically very good with the use of two images
3rd -Bringing up the rear Stephen S - a good tight crop, a sharp subject great sense of movement
HC The Chase- simonarron - really like this, sharp, interesting diverging subject ines with a break to bth sides
Hear Hear Hear...vic cross - great interpretation of the theme, well thought out.
Forward to the shore noelcmn - very good composition, really expressive, sharp and great colours
My totally subjective and probably quite weird thoughts on the other entries, not a duff one amongst them!
Goose-stepping Out….Perspicador - great sense of motion personally I would have gone for a tighter crop
Kite surfer –Mudge – great tones – the back view looking forward is a good compositional technique
On the trail-edumad – again, I might be tempted to crop tighter on the right hand side – but the face is sharp – looking forward, nice composition
A girl and a Pentaxian Talete a great photo, but didn't give the sense of "forward" as strongly as some of the others
Going Forward in Reverse tyronet2000 – good sense of motion, the dark loco gets a little lost in this though
Where’s my fish? ken2390 - strong diagonals, interesting subject
Full Pursuit by Ellida – all dogs moving forward sharp, liked this, but might have cropped out a bit at the top
Speeding South - by davidtrout nice framing, good subject, good for theme (GCR even?)
.85 aliengrove - deceptively very simple, strong colours
Hear Hear, then and now, who knows what - viccross, amusing see comments above
Forward Ho! It's still Deux Chevaux!! drofmit - another interesting take on the theme, photo perhaps a little cluttered but a great subject
Best foot by coker– well captured good use of telephoto, I like the off centre composition gives a good sense of motion
Onwards and Upwards by Stevef - excellent use of B and W to concentrate the mind on the subject, good composition with the driver and car equally the subject
St Paddy's Day parade Birmingham ( today) by conexus - very sharp, a good photo but it didn't leap out as expressing the theme to me

Goodness!
As Victor Meldrew would say............I DON'T BELIEVE IT!
Thanks Stephen for your vote and a very interesting and challenging subject, yes in fact I used the Sigma 10-20mm (my first outing with it in fact)
Well done to John and Stephen too and thank you PU and EPZ for the years membership, Great!
Some really good interpretations of the theme this time,
The next competition is now up, I've tried to make it fun but a little challenging too

Nice one Micheal. As soon as I saw it I said to my wife "That's the winner" I thought all the others had good interpretations of the subject. As mine was SO different I didn't think it would be any good but to get a HC with only my 2nd. entry was for me great. Thanks Stephen. I could get used to this. CHEERS Vic.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

Fabulous picture Mr Blue....
and a hell of a subject to try and find a picture for, Stephen, thanks!
"perhaps a little cluttered ".... entirely agree... but all 2CV events these days are cluttered....
there are a lot of us... and more keep coming out of the woodwork...
or should that be barn!!
I had thought of PottyShoppin' the background so that it was blurred, Stephen...
but then decided that that look of disbelief on the faces of the group just behind the horses' backsides....
was so "with the humour", they just had to stay.
This was at Salbris, in the Sologne, for the 2006 French Clubs Meeting....
we also went to the World Meeting at Salbris 2013...
it was absolute chaos... and some people were not allowed in by the Gendarmes on the first night...
we decided that that was our last World Meeting... almost 10,000 cars... some 30 to 40 thousand folks...
and only enough space for around 20,000 camping on site... never-ever-again.
And I certainly couldn't have got the shot in 2013... just horrible, 'twas, just horrible.
The van was bright orange in 2013... the palominos were the same.... the colours didn't work!
A superb range to learn from, try and emulate, etc...
I particularly liked Best Foot (Forward).... and also Speeding South....
but then I do have a slight leaning towards birds, beer and steam!

Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

Had an inkling that would be the winner, fitting the brief so well. Awesome shot, fabulous angle of the shot, and as our Judge noted, having that human figure for scale makes this a winner. Print it! Congrats too to John Riley, Stephen S and my fellow HC's Simonarron and Vic cross. Thanks for the HM, Stephen, and as usual a wonderful judging exercise. An interesting challenge!
