Thanks to you all for taking part in this competition, I’ve enjoyed seeing and commenting on your images.
First place.....Jelly Shampoo – Sean282
Second Place..... How’s Business – bforbes
Third place.....Who’s a pretty gull, Then – Coker
H-C’s to.....Noelcmn, AndrewA, Gravelrash
And a big well done to everyone else.

The Mask – michaelblue
The more I look at this image the more it makes me smile, the mask certainly has a very cheeky grin, the red tassel looks a bit odd but doesn’t spoil the image for me.

...and if you believe that! – tyronet2000
In my experience these birds are never nice, either pinching your chips or redecorating your car. A very well spotted and composed image, maybe a smaller aperture may have helped put more of the bird in focus, although I guess you didn’t have time to mess about.

Penguin aerobics – simonarron
Who can watch a penguin without smiling, well maybe an eider duck but I think even the duck has a slight grin on his cheeks. I like that you used the reflection and I know had it have been me taking the shot I would have been urging the duck to get out of the shot.

Don’t stare Edith – davidtrout
A very funny image this, I wonder what Edith is thinking? Would have liked to have seen more of Edith’s face and a faster shutter speed would have helped to but perhaps this was a well seen grab shot.

How’s Business – bforbes
When I look at this image I just want to say “ I’ll get you butler”. There is lots to like about this image, the character , the position of the images behind, the hat and scarf all go to make this a very nice image.

All mod cons – JAK
It could work, level the bath up, the drainpipe is there already to collect rainwater, then just a couple of strategically placed flower pots around the loo for privacy. This image did make me smile but I think it was more the thought of anyone bothering to take it in the first place. Nice one.

I am so cute – geordie01
Yes they are cute and seem to have the knack of tripping over invisible things, looks like you caught the beak hitting the mini puddle judging by the rings in the water. Would have liked to have seen more of the chick in focus, but still made me smile.

Asleep at the wheel - Paulb531
Such a shame as taken with Nikon Coolpix

Who’s a pretty gull, then? – coker
This image makes me smile for the reason the title suggests and also because I have a thing for reflections. The colours are great the composition is great what’s not to like with this image. Lovely.

Say cheese – Perspicador
A very cheesy grin indeed, yes it made me smile...... ermmmm what more can I say.

Inner peace – The smile from within – johnriley
This guy looks totally chilled, I wonder what he thinking? Almost looks like he may have burst out laughing a second after this shot or fallen asleep, I cant work out which. Nice high iso image (wish my high iso images looked this good).

Story time – Gravelrash
How could any dad / granddad not smile at this, forget all the technically perfect images, this is the type of image that will always make you smile. A lovely image, could have done with a smaller aperture, but I am sure it will always make you smile.

The happiest mannequin on earth – JudithAnn
That is one strange mannequin but it does make me smile, on the one hand it looks like something from a horror movie and on the other hand it reminds me of a seventies pop star with that hair. A good spot and nicely composed.

Caleb and keagan monkeying around – Noelcmn
These guys certainly look like they are having a good time, and it’s hard not to smile when you see people enjoying themselves. Nicely captured as you caught their smiles nicely and captured the fun too.

People watching – Darlene
This made me smile not only for the fact the photographer missing the puffin but also I love the blue and purple top and big white hat, the perfect camouflage for photographing birds. Well spotted and captured.

Winners – AndrewA
A lovely shot, one that will make you smile whenever you look at it. I like the sheep behind the lad is smiling too and in just the right place.

If you’re going to start dancing...I’m off!!! – Drofmit
Seems reasonable to me, dancing or fishing.... no contest. I like the movement in this showing the dancing female and the escaping male.

Funny face – jdanko 1451
I hope this cat was smiling at you or was it about to attack, either way you captured what reminds me of a Tom and Jerry cartoon type smile. Nice shot would have been better if the cats eyes were open, but that was obviously out of your control.

All in grass – SkilakDeZoo
Once again shame as taken with a Nikon

Jelly Shampoo - Sean282
Just have to smile at this image it captures the moment, the fun and the laughter perfectly. An image I am sure all involved will always smile at. Great image makes smile every time I look at it.

Oh, we ain’t got a barrel of money maybe.....- Blythman
The thought that these guys could be rehearsing their act in their scruffy tuxedos and clown shoes, si enough to make me smile. Nice thought and capture.

That was a close run thing Barrie. You came dangerously close to having to judge two competitions at the same time.
Well done to Sean and to Jim for an entertaining competition and all the hard work on the judging front.

Thank you for taking the time to critique and I'm sure it wasn't an easy task to judge.

Congrats to the podium folks

Edit...In my defence the image was digitally softened in pp...the ladies of my family don't appreciate a camera that shows their flaws lol
Steve

Sometimes I'm serious and sometimes not, but I consider sarcasm an artform. Which is it today?
