Weekly Competition #309 - Together Competition

Title Weekly Competition #309 - Together
Judge AndrewA
Closing Date 16/06/2013
Description
This weeks topic is Together.

Inspired by the fact that Mrs A and I are away on holiday, together without the kids or the dog.

I will be looking for shots that demonstrate togetherness, but how you interprete that is up to you.

Usual rules apply.

Thank You all for your entries, some very fine examples of togetherness. In the spirit of the theme Mrs A helped with the judging.

We judged the entries on 2 criteria, togetherness and the execution of the shot. We admit to struggling to narrow it down, particularly between the first two, but there can only be one winner.

1: Togetherness – paulb531

2: Love, actually - RNVasco

3: Red Arrows – mudge

Very HCs: Gannets – JAK; 2 Up – Fritzthedog; Simien Youth – Dr Mhuni; Together in adversity – aliengrove

HCs: everyone else!

Best Cousins – John Riley
Nicely frames capture and very much in line with the theme. You can see the genuine warmth for each other and the photographer too!

Trainers – Sean282
I have a bit of a phobia about photos of footwear; I find it unusual that folk wish to take pictures of their shoes etc....but each to their own.
They are certainly together, nicely framed and if the shot had been subject to some pop-art post production reckon the colours would have really lent themselves to some digital art!

Red Arrows – mudge
Superb capture, nicely framed and meets the theme really well, really like this shot.

22 – Perspicador
Meets the theme perfectly, the shot does seem a little soft and I would preferred the crop around the mallards to have been a bit tighter. Good entry though.

Going for a plodge – geordie01
Nicely caught “plodging” shot, a shame they were not holding hands and it would have increased the togetherness! Almost on the podium.

Gannets – JAK
Superb all round shot, well captured and nicely framed – meets the theme perfectly.

Blending In: Standing Out – GaryJohn
Interesting take on the theme, a well executed shot and nicely framed. The colours really work well.

Together in adversity – aliengrove
Absolutely perfect title for the shot – ticks a lot of boxes this shot – but most importantly the 2 for the competition.

Pulling Together – davidtrout
Like the take on the theme and the execution of the shot – the young lady on the right reminds me that some thoughts mirror the name of the boat....

Simien youth – Dr Mhuni
Stunning shot – ticks all the boxes – excellent.

Sisters – steven9761
Lovely capture, just a shame both ladies were not looking at the camera – otherwise would have been in with a shout.

Fishing together – tyronet2000
Great capture and take on the theme – just feel that they need to be a bit sharper to podium.

Spinning Around – Papa_Lazarou
Love this shot – a tighter crop and it would have been a podium placer.

Together, (at Peace) – Frogherder
Great original idea to demonstrate the theme – had the front two graves been linked by their occupants as relatives it would have been almost perfect.

Together – CIBarker
Nice capture and take on the theme – almost a podium placer!

2 Up – Fritzthedog
That is a brilliant capture and nice take on the theme– ticks all the boxes!

Romance – robbiec
A joint effort, very together! Really like this shot, perhaps a wee rotation is required, almost there.

Having a ball – dinneenp
Panasonic DMC-LX7! There appears to be a cuckoo in the Pentax nest – shame as I really liked it...

In Step – annieogg
Super capture and great take on the theme – I hate Morris dancing – but I really like this, well done!

Kiss Kiss – Hiddendragon28
Great capture and take on the theme – just feel that they need to be a bit sharper to podium.

Togetherness - paulb531
Love it – ticks all the boxes – excellent.

Damselfly Get Together – Jim-w
Are they “doing it”? Certainly together aren’t they....but not sure the colour cast works for me sorry.

My two together – DanielH
Lovely capture, I would love to know what they are saying. Really like this shot.

Love, Actually – RNVasco
Beautiful and touching, well captured and definitely ticks all the boxes.

Till death do us part – ArsenAL
Superbly framed and beautiful shot – looks like they want to be together, but can’t.

Waiting together – dromfit
Nice capture this, look at them waiting, like it.

Well done everyone!
