Description
This can be anything that would constitute as a Clock Tower such as, probably the most famous, "Big Ben" to one found on church buildings. What I am looking for is the unusual in the structure or point of view of the image.

Please note I will be in Cornwall when the competition ends but will endeavour to get the result posted asap.

Good Luck

Thank you for your entries to this week's competition. It wasn't easy to judge because of the quality of the entries but also I'm using a netbook in a lounge in a hotel in Cornwall

Looking through the clock... by AxelLuther
This image has a different POV from the norm ie viewing the clock from the inside out. I like the way the building in the background is framed which splits the subject into two separate items, Clock and Tower.

Paris-Orleans Railway by johnriley
This certainly looks an impressive piece of architecture. You have captured the details so well, even the transparency of the clock face, but I find the overlay especially the streaks of blue to be a distraction.

Farnborough Clock by GlynM
This clock must be huge, comparing the size to the door on the left. You've caught the details of the building well although it does look like it's tilted down ever so slightly to the right. Nevertheless a good record shot and well done being up that early to capture it.

Half time by davidtrout
I like this image, it's certainly showing the clock from a different point of view and the title made me smile. I'm not too sure if the reflected building on the right fits in with the image and wonder if it could have been "removed".

Clock tower, Sneinton Market by Perspicador
I like the way you've captured two faces of this clock tower, it gives the whole image a "face" of it's own. Although the tower is in the center of the frame you've included some foliage at the right to stop the viewers eyes leaving the frame.

3.45 by GaryJohn
A very impressive image. I like the composition and viewpoint of this image. The clock tower stands out well against the sky and is held in the frame by the flag either side.

20 Past 2 by bettyswalloks
I rather like this, the tower behind the trees giving the picture depth but also the clock it clear. The tones of the image give it a gothic look too could be a cover for a novel.

On a wet Friday in May by Frogherder
This appears to be a clock tower on quite an old building and fits the criteria of being unusual, the clock only having one hand. I like the way the window roof echos the shape of the clock and draws the eye up rather than away from the main subject.

Clock Tower Falmouth Cornwall by Marie
For the competition this would have been better if the clock tower had been zoomed into more, as the clock face is hard to make out.

Ljuljana Castle by velmir
A good effort showing two faces of the clock and sightseers around the top.

Steam Clock by bigsturgeon
This image has just the sort of elements I was looking for. It's a clock on a tower and is unusual in that it is steam
powered.

St. Christophers by Jim-w
It's a clock tower but the foreground has a definite white halo around it which detracts.

Converted Church Clock Tower by Noelcmn
Definitley an unusual use for a clock tower. I think you may be right about it being used as a viewpoint.

The Belfry Bruges by kevinroy
This is a lovely building but doesn't look sharp on my screen I also think for the competition it could have been cropped at a point just above the chemist's sign.

Parish Church Rishton by timcx500e
I like the idea of the light trail leading to the clock tower but the traffic light sign dominates the image.

Chester Clocktower by sandinista
This tower is a very intricate structure and you have caught the detail very well. I think clock face would have been better without so much light reflecting from it.

Pizza Time by dromfit
I like the idea behind this image but I don't think the image matches the story.

Marbella Old Town by paulb531
I like the way you have framed this but think if you had got closer and opened up the left of the of the tower clear of the building on the left.

Kremlin chimes by ArsenAl
A nice shot but I think for the competition the left side (Kremlin) is not needed as you have the clock tower between two buildings.

Hi Stan - thanks a lot for not just a great topic and judgement but also for the first place. Congratulations to the others on the podium. Again a competition that showed a great variety of interpretations of this topic.
One thing I have to mention - I was so surprised to see John's entry right after mine, because these two pictures show exactly the same clock. How small are the chances by the given number of clocks around the world, that two guys selected the same one???

OK, after all these wonderful inhibiting business of clocks, I'm going back to African time . There is an old proverb "in Europe they have watches (and clocks) and in Africa they have time". "African time" is proverbial for the casual way in which time is handled, a meeting at 10:00 could be anything between 10:00 and 14:00.
Super collection of images, a wonderful theme, so thanks to Stan for this contest. Congratulations AxelLuther, a very fine image. And to Bigsturgeon and GaryJohn. Thanks for the 2nd place.
I actually attended a few service in this church a few years back, and it was not not viable financially for it upkeep and hence sold. It has wonderful views.
