Description
This week I’d like to see a picture to represent Bingo ‘Lingo’, so a photo that depicts a phrase used in bingo to describe a number.

A traditional bingo game has 90 numbers, and a lot as recognised phrases which I’d like to see captured in a picture, ‘two little ducks’ for 22 by way of an example.

Fingers crossed for lots of creative, and perhaps a little off the wall entries, and perhaps one or two guesses as to which number the picture represents.

Good luck

First thanks to all for their entries, I hope you’ve enjoyed taking or selecting images from your portfolio as much as I have reviewing them.
This is the first competition I have judged, so I’m no expert. I’ve tried to judge images on composition and the overall look of the image and how well it captures a ‘Bingo Lingo’ phrase.

Where? - Perspicador
59 – The Brighton line for this image, great first image to receive for the competition, I like the composition of the track leading through the image and the dappled light, perhaps not enough interest in the left foreground is my only criticism.

I Love My Mum - michaelblue
51- The title says it all, a perhaps lesser known piece of Bingo ‘Lingo’, but lingo nonetheless. I’m left in no doubt that this little lad does love his mum, and so this image makes for a great family snap. For my eye I’d like to see the image perhaps shifted to the left, allowing the cropped mum’s head into the image and reducing the background area in the top right.

One Little Duck – Jim-w
2 – I hope everyone recognises this one as a piece of Bingo ‘Lingo’. I like this image a lot. We do not get Mandarin ducks in my local park, so this is an exotic for me, great shape to the duck and lovely colours. I like that this fella is ‘on his own’. In PP I may have rotated the image slightly anti-clockwise so that the in focus bench stanchion was vertical, but that’s my only criticism.

The Garden Gate - JAK
8 – A strong image, well composed, full of interest, all the better perhaps when you factor the equipment used to take it, For the purposes of this competition I think I would have loved to have seen more of the gate, this image has left me wanting to see more of this scene.

On the Floor - Noelcmn
4- Thanks for Googling Bingo ‘Lingo’ and submitting this entry, he is certainly ‘On’ the floor’ I really like the colours and the pose, I only wish I could get so comfortable on a stone floor! Great shot.

57 Varieties - GlynM
57- 57 Heinz Varieties, big thanks for composing and taking this image specifically for the competition, I hope you had a bit of fun doing it. I like the composition, it screams bingo ‘lingo’, strong contender.

Legs 11 - VonBatCat
The title says it all, anther well known piece of bingo lingo, great composition with obvious bingo connections, assisted further as I’ve no idea how to replicate it, thanks for the entry,

Go Train Go - darlene
I’ve searched my Bingo ‘Lingo’ references and can’t find one for this, there is 59, Brighton Line, and 22 can also be known as Toot Toot which has train connotations, 58 Choo Choo Thomas, so very strong image but I can’t judge it as meeting the criteria of the competition, sorry.

Two Little Ducks – tyronet2000
22- Certainly 2 little ducks, nice composition and I like the colour differential, for me perhaps the rear duck lacks the clarity of the one at the front.

Either Way Up - AndrewA
69 – Lovely image that completely ticks the boxes in terms of composition, overall look and Bingo ‘Lingo’. An image that keeps you engaged. For me, top drawer!

Number Two – paulb531
2 – ‘One little duck’ – another take on this subject, well captured. I think for the purposes of this competition this duck may benefit from a slightly wider crop to really show it ‘on it’s own’.

Bingo Caller – wendy
This one has got me scratching my head I’m afraid, I think wendy must play a lot more bingo than I do! A beautiful beast well captured though.

One and Eight – drofmit
18 – ‘What a state’ indeed! The lighting certainly giving the impression of a slightly mad cat, nice pose, well captured.

Results time, so here goes:-

1st Either Way Up – AndrewA
2nd 57 Varieties – GlynM
3rd Legs 11 – VonBatCat

Very close decision in the end, very little between the three placed entries. I like all three images for different reasons, but for me AndrewA just nicks it.

Particular thanks and commendation to Perspicador, Jim-w and JAK, with excellent images, just outside the places, and of course to everyone else, I hope you enjoyed entering.

Many thanks Chris for awarding my Heinz 57 varieties the coveted 2nd place

Great to have such an original and different competition subject with a very nice set of comments and what I guess was probably quite difficult judging.

Congratulations to Andrew for a fantastic and well deserved winning image. It was my choice when I saw it yesterday.

Congratulations also to fellow podium sitter VBC, those others mentioned and everyone else for another very nice set of images.

My image was fun to do. We already had the soup tins but I had to get a tin of beanz and got some strange looks when turning over the pile of cans in Sainsburys to find a good example .

Well done Andrew! My choice also as soon as I saw it, lovely shot well taken.
Congrats also to GlynM and VBC.
Thanks to Chris for a fun theme and I agree with your 'critique' of my photo, hadn't noticed it till you pointed it out but you're exactly right.
