Steam Punk by pipinmels: is a sound start, with lots of lovely detail and texture. A very fine hat indeed.
Wedding hat by SSF1957: Another great hat in an unusual location. I like the splash of colour in an otherwise quite dour background.
With menaces by Nigelk: Very atmospheric and a good choice to use monochrome. There is no colour in this gentleman or his partners in crime.
Six! by simonmac: This is a real eye catcher. Spot on technique, fantastic colour and a brilliant reportage shot.
Conical hat by flan: An understated image that gives little away. Where? Why? and other questions remain obscure, but then that is the essence of the image and makes it interesting.
Re-enactors by EricD1306: This is a very relaxed and pleasant image of this couple, who are clearly enjoying being seen out and about. They must be endlessly stopped and asked for a photo, and it's clear they enjoy that too. The contrast is a little low for my taste, but overall the image still comes across with a strong message.
Hat Vendor by noelcmn: This is very strong, another classy monochrome image. I'm not so keen on the rather messy and large area bottom left and I am wondering if the removal of something using Photoshop has been the culprit. It does distract IMHO.
Pilot Helm by sueriley: This looks like the helmet from perhaps some sort of pressure suit, the sort of helmet that perhaps a Lightning pilot would wear. It shows lots of interesting details and is an effective record.
Spoilt for choice I am, but a choice has to be made and the result is:
