Weekly #948 - Neglect Competition

Thank you to all who entered, I wasn't sure how many entries there would be since I realised after I had created the competition that it was similar to one from a few months ago.
I enjoyed seeing the different interpretations of the subject matter and the excellent images to support this.
Hopefully I have not overthought, overanalysed or interpreted incorrectly so here goes...


Forgotten by MHOL190246
First entry and fit the criteria to a tee.
Not only does the boat look Forgotten but the surroundings also seem a little un-tended. My imagination has the boat moored in a small lake which has now dried up.


Abandoned by SSF1957
Beautiful old steel. Sad to see it in this state but it was built to last and I like to think that there are plans to restore it


Waiting to be used by Gibis
This one threw me at first since the bicycles don't appear to be in a bad state of repair. The comment about the owner however says it all. I, like many others I'm sure, am probably in a similar state of self neglect.


Derelict or Do-a up-a by Nigelk
This fixer-upper is close to my heart. Been renovating houses that we were living in in France for some time now then selling and moving on to do another. None in quite this state of dereliction though. I particularly like the framing of nature through the windows on the gable.


Varosha by dewsburya
The abandoned town; industrial, neglected and signs of nature beginning to reclaim. So many levels to this image and then to top it off, the monochrome adds to the effect. Plus, I got a brief history lesson because I had to look it up.

Once again, so many levels to this image. What is neglected? The gate? The fence? The church? Is the church only neglected because the worshippers neglected their faith?

This made me laugh. An amusing image, rust being the neglect.
Well executed, great title and nice bokeh.


Window view of decay by Noelcmn
So much decay and neglect here, tempered by the graffiti and then the relatively clean floor which suggests that someone is taking care of the place? Nice through the window perspective.


Lost and Found by simonmac
Nice monochrome shot. Bit of a spooky image, the grain adding to that effect.


Derelict Shed by EricD1306
Late entry here and definitely portraying neglect, from the moss covered roof to the ramshackle doors.

Thanks for the competition and congratulations to the Dewsbury and EricD1306. Thanks also for the other podium place. The image was actually taken on Leigh Marshes in South Essex. The marsh tends to dry out from time to time
