Thank you Noel.
That winner is a cracker!
The 'chess board' in my shot is a tray of candles lit for prayer. As for the shadows.....there is some evidence across the front of the right candle and the cross....the light slants at a funny angle!

Lubbyman – St Michaels of the Sea – What an interesting history, and even more interesting presentation of the altar. Lovely and crisp, great DOF and the inclusion of the incense burner is a nice touch! Suitably somber too!
Johnriley-track inspection- Just the kind of image I had envisioned given the rich history of rail in the UK. He details are amazing, as is the comp, with the standout orange jacket drawing the eye to the inspector. Good timing snapping him while he is looking down, telling of his intensity and devotion to his job! Super Documentary shot!
Davidwozhere – leaded glass – so simple an idea, and yet to powerful, and the colorful bokeh is super! Nicely detailed making a great textured shot!
Simonmac-Prayer - another suitably somber image, this with a lot less on the altar. Such lovely light coming in from the right, creating a fascinating pattern of shadows on the wall. I’m intrigued by two things- What is that bit in front? Looks like a chess board? The other is the absence of any shadow for the candles and the cross? Presumably the light coming in from the right fore part of the altar? Nice in B/W.
SSF1957- Crossing –an excellent documentary shot of life in Funchal. It’s powerful in B/W, loads of details and I do like just the titbit of a motorbike on the left and the wording of Pizza Hut on the right! I’m tempted to think the fellow on the left is looking at the lotto numbers 😊- he’s so engrossed in looking at whatever is in his hands! The zebra crossing and the patterned paving all serve to enhance the crisscrossing of life here!
EricD1306- Victoria of Wight- delicious details of the Ferry, and a lone figure up on the deck tells a story! And the pop of white against all that blue sea and sky is fantastic, focusing the eye on Victoria. Great shot!
Flan- It weighs – Fascinating! Sculptures, bridges, benches and a lit up tree? What’s it all about? Excellent balanced comp, loads of DOF too and the B/W is just suited to add even more mystery to this scene! And not a soul in sight to appreciate the art here!
1st place to SSF1957- superb documentary shot of a slice of life on the planet!
2nd Johnriley- an almost monoschrome shot but for the Orange jacket that dars the eye.
3rd – EricD1306- Victoria that pops so wonderfully.
Over to you SSF1957.
