Well done MikeInDevon and deservedly so.
Thanks also to host Simonmac for the comments and critique.
My own entry was poetic license as such, as I do not shoot the stars or moons

Hi Simonmac, thanks for the competition and thanks for the win! Some excellent images on show so a surprise for me!
I shall have to get my thinking cap on a now, been a bit distracted this week as I had a SSD go weird on me and I've struggling to recover images, alas some may be lost, that'll teach me to back up properly.
Best regards to you all from Devon
Mike

Welldone Mike!!! Cracking shot of Neowise!
Spad missed this because Spad is an idiot
I have been out shooting the cosmos, and as a result, I am absolutely buggered! I only saw this competition in the wee small hours while out on a shoot, and it was to late!

Thank you to the magnificent seven who entered.
Night Sky over Lake Clearwater by markm
Oh for skies like this over Birmingham city centre! I had to look the location up. This is NZ? If so, that may be why it looked so unfamiliar. Makes me feel small and insignificant, which I am. Lovely.
Northern Lights by Nigelk
I was hoping for an aurora shot. This is in colour, which to me is important. Those hues and that road beneath. There is a Pixies song called The Happening....sums it up to me. Great. (check out Renaissance too!)
Its a choice by Flan
It is indeed. A different take. I like this photograph but it doesn't work for me in the context of the topic. But, you took the time to enter. Thank you.
Longing to explore the stars, a space cowboy's dream. by BraydenBise
This is difficult. It is a great photograph. It shows the 'heavens'. I love black and white. However, I mentioned this above, aurora, to me, means colour. The similar shot that you have posted is superb because of the colour. Because of that, it misses.
Moon and Clouds by Noelcmn
I see a bad moon risin'! The moon and clouds are a classic werewolf trope. I just find the moon a little lost. Bigger moon for me...a crop?
Moon and Tree by Lubbyman
A bigger moon here. It is more effective and still carries lycanthrope vibes. Yet I want to part the branches and see a 'straight up' moon. I was surprised that there was no such entry........
Comet Neowise by MikeInDevon
Love it. Simple and effective. Like other photographs here taken with simple equipment. Comets are enthralling to me....so much mythology, awe and wonder. Perhaps lost now we can map their orbits and cycles.
Again, thank you all.
