Weekly #884 - The High Street Competition
Title | Weekly #884 - The High Street |
---|---|
Judge | stevistds | Closing Date | 15/09/2024 |
Description | I've picked this subject because we all have our favourite towns and places to visit. Any subject matter will be acceptable provided it's a shot taken in a high street so it shouldn't limit your imagination. All photos should be taken on Pentax equipment or clones. Expiry date for entries 15th September 2024. Good luck and I can't wait to see your interpretations. Steve |

Some interesting subjects posted to this subject matter.
High road to Hillbrow by Noelcmn, good use of the rule of thirds leads your eye straight down the street.
The High Street by Flan, I like the interaction of the people in the foreground and what appears to be a rally being held in the street.
Good composition and use of black and white.
Brum Shoppers by Simonmac, I really like this photo it came a very close second to the winner. Sharp focus and great contrast. The people and the lower buildings lead your eye to the point of interest at the base of the Bull Ring Tower.
Avian avenue by Perspicador, it took me a while to get the meaning behind this one but then I used the search engine! Lovely birds those Norwegian blues.
Passing Through by Nigelk, interesting use of the multiple images , makes it appear that you were travelling at some speed. It would make a very good large print.
A Rarity... by Lubbyman, So true, there used to be at least one camera shop in every high street. I'm not sure that the lad on the bench was very impressed!
Vesterbrogade by kasperbergholt. At first I thought this photo was taken on film but a quick review of the exif data shows that it was the high ISO that provides the grainy image.
Commercial Street, Lerwick's high street by MHOL190246. You did well to capture the texture of the stonework on the sunny side of the street whilst illuminating the dark side of the street - would he been very easy to burn out.
And the winner:
She seems to know you Sid by davidtrout. The stark difference in the colours between the shop front advert and the couple are what appealed most to me about this photo. A well captured shot showing glamour and the everyday (every little counts!).

It all started with a ME now look at me!

Apologies for taking so long to review and select you as this week's winner but I've been working today.
I'll drop a note on with my comments on all the entries later tonight.
