Right then, here we go.
Woman overboard by davidtrout
I'd say you've captured the aftermath of quite a rare event. Our eldest daughter rowed in the Ladies 8's for Bristol University, when we could we'd watch them race in competitions around England, we never saw anyone get thrown out! I like this image because it's got a story to it.
Fishing Bawley Endeavour by MHOL190246
A nice study of a lovely traditional day fishing boat. It is lovely to see it looking so well cared for. A chunky business like work boat well captured.
Sublime or Ridiculous by Lubbyman
I really like the contrast captured here between the two boats. I'll have the steamer every time! I know the modern boat will probably be more comfortable with all the bells and whistles but it still comes a poor second for me. A well captured contrast that gets one pondering and thinking.
Dawn in Suffolk by dewsburya
A vertical letterbox giving us everything from the foreground up to the blue sky above with an evocative misty scene in between. Being my home county makes it even better, it certainly works for me.
Governed by tide by Flan
You've found a good angle to capture the scene. Despite being a difficult very high contrast scene we've got plenty of detail in the ship to take the eye into the image. The colours are certainly very strong and have impact.
Autumn Canal Boat by sueriley
Lovely scene, a good angle, calm water giving a lovely refection of the boat surrounded in autumnal foliage. When I look at this image it makes me feel calm and relaxed, that's got to be good!
Waiting by davidwozhere
For the tide and someone to take the cover off and take this lovely little boat out. You've clearly thought about your angle and point of view, you've gone low so despite its modest size the boat breaks the horizon creating a bridge between land and sky, from the lovely rocky foreground to the boat, the bow pointing us across the estuary to the rather lovely distant view.
Skippool Creek by johnriley
A classic busy creek scene no doubt used as access for centuries. So much to feast the eye on, rich textures from mud glorious mud to all the timber posts, frames and platforms. Another good vantage point to capture a well framed image but, to be honest the old image effect is not totally winning me over, for myself it needs a bit more fine adjustment on the sky, a little less clarity and or contrast just to soften it down a little.
Harbour help by Noelcmn
What strikes me is the blue of the image and the near symmetry of the image, it's close to monochromatic. The central white decks of the ship and the three colour splashes of red/orange on the tugs and the ships funnel make for a compelling image.
Sunset at Loch Linnhe by PRYorkshire
A delightful scene well captured, lovely transition from dark blue foreground up into the subtle warm colours of the sunset then up into the pale blue sky all of which frames a lovely still loch with silhouetted boats and reflection, what's not to like!
Now here's the rub, which are my top three and what order to put them in.
1st PRYorkshire
2nd davidtrout
3rd sueriley
A tough job but, I've made my choices.
Thank you all for your entries, lets see what PRYorshire comes up with for this weeks competition.
Best regards
Nigel
