Weekly #880 - Clouds Competition
Title | Weekly #880 - Clouds |
---|---|
Judge | Simonmac | Closing Date | 11/08/2024 |
Description | I am a fan of an 80s band whose singer, when asked what inspires their songwriting, replied 'clouds'. Clouds should be the subject, not the passive observers. Closes 11/08/2024. Pentax and Pentax clones. All the best! |

Many thanks for the wise words! Some great images as usual.
Looking forward to seeing what challenge is up next, from BraydenBise.

Good round up Simonmac and thanks for the podium.
I like the winning photo also.
I was waiting for the winner to show up before commenting but that seems unlikely at this stage.

You got some first class entries here Simon. Well done BraydenBise and very clever shot (and title) from Flan. It's also great to see new names appearing - well done to Rod Bucknell too - keep them coming!

Chuffed that a few entered, I was worried at one point. But we all have busy lives.
Masai Mara Sunset by NigelK
Splendid. A 'wish you were here' shot. I always try to let my eye wander on an image. The clouds are there and the foreground and the upper sky serve to frame the trees bathed in that light. My eye pulls away from the cloud every time.

Again, lovely. And much of what I said for the above applies here. The foreground and upper sky serve to frame that strip of sun and cloud.
Storm clouds at sundown by BraydenBise
All cloud. There we go. An oil painting. An omen. What colours. Love it.

When I first shot digital, with a decent bit of software, I was astounded by the detail that can be lifted that the naked eye cannot see. That is the case here. Profound.
Doing What A Cloud Does Best by Lubbyman
Dare I say.....a good dump (apologies). I love seeing those formations in the distance where you can tell that it is raining. It cannot be helped here, but the forewground distracts a little. I would love to see that beast closer up.

Great panorama. This image again show that immense difficulty of exposing well for all areas when there is a wide dynamic range.
Clouds over Skippool Creek by johnriley
Now....that is a great image that, in my humble opinion, has been overdone. Is it HDR or similar? I would love to see the original.
Stored in the cloud by Flan
I respect this. The throwing up of glass towers in Brum lends itself to this kind of image. Nice one.
Thank you all very much.
