Weekly #860 - Outside the Box Competition
Title | Weekly #860 - Outside the Box |
---|---|
Judge | johnriley | Closing Date | 17/03/2024 |
Description | Creativity, thinking outside the box, stretching ourselves into things we don't normally do...this week we are looking for an image where you have applied some flash of creativity, an image where you think outside the box. Last week's winner has asked me to step in as he is unable to set a competition this time, so here we are! Give it your best shot, and to help along I've extended the deadline by a week to give everyone a chance to explore that creative streak. Images new or old, it's up to you. The usual guidelines apply. |

Thank you for the win, John.... it is one of my favourite pictures. All the tomatoes were home grown, as were the chard leaves that I camouflaged the rest of the cooker with.... the rest, apart from the two Warhol glasses are in daily use, or from the immediate vicinity.
The heat-moulded Perspex tray is also a collectors item and is from the same era as the two glasses.
Congratulations to Sue and Yorkie for their podium places.... "certainly stretched the old grey matter".... and yours too looking at the quality of the entries.
I will put my thinking cap on and get a subject up asap.... but will be late with the comments next Monday as we are moving my dearly beloved to a care home in the next village rather than 30 kilometres away.... and a purpose built facility, too. Hopefully they will rebuild he legs enough for her to come home where she belongs.... growing old sucks!!

Thank's Flan.... it was one of those times when I both enjoyed setting it up [not all the cherry tomatoes made the picture] but was mighty pleased with the end result!

Breakfast out of the box by Yorkie is a literal interpretation and it gets us off to a great start. It's clever and the technical quality is excellent.
Cookin' – good lookin' by RayW at first glance looked like an audio amplifier, but turns out to be an oven rather than rock 'n roll. Humour it is and it made me smile...
Outside the box/phone by sueriley is my other half sneakily working away in Photoshop and proving yet again that she's capable of superb work. This works well and is outside the box on many levels.
Magic pencil sharpener by davidwozhere – A lovely sharp image of sharpening and a great macro shot whichever way we look at it. An accomplished image.
Jewels in the rough by NigelK – This is an unusual abstract image and it isn't at all clear what it is without the explanation. However, it works well and produces an interesting and attractive result.
Strange hatchling by Noelcmn – You don't see many of these hatching, not in captivity anyway...well done for making something up and producing it to such a high standard.
Campbells Tomato Soup deconstructed by drofmit – Oh my, that's a clever one, what a great idea and what an amount of trouble to go to to carry it out with such superb technical quality and panache. A master of his craft has constructed his canvas, told a story and delivered the goods in more ways than one.
So, to the winners and I think without any doubt:
WINNER is drofmit with a master class in food preparation that goes way outside the box
SECOND is sueriley with yet another wonderfully classy construction in Photoshop
THIRD is Yorkie with a brilliantly simple but cleverly produced concept
Well done all, and over to drofmit!
