Now, everyone must have something to offer for this week's competition.... I am about 1/3rd of the way through creating a groundfloor bedroom and wheelchair friendly shower [wheelchair accessible but not yet needed, I'm future proofing!], so that my beloved can come home from the "old peoples' home" she is currently entombed in [her words]. Her Parkinson's has reached the stage where she is no longer safe on the stairs.... so construction is rather foremost in my mind!! Anyway, that is why this is a tad late arriving.... trying to do new construction in an occupied house, is rather like playing one of those games where you slide the squares around to create a picture or sentence. So, Construction... it can be from a grand skyscraper being built.... down to a Lego model... or smaller, so long as the photo you submit depicts construction under way!! Our usual Pentax Ricoh camera competition rules apply and as it is a weekly, you can pick something from your archives! |

Don't knock yourself for having a sleep in - with the sound of things you probably needed it!
Back on topic - thank you for the 1st position. That looked a hard set to judge given the quality of them so congratulations to Nigel, Gareth and David too.

Well here they are....
just my observations...
Thanks for entering....
An infant Media City by davidtrout
What a wonderful reflection... love it. Everything is basically in straight lines... except for that one huge curve and its reflection. Also an awful lot of blue in the picture, but the red cranes in the middle keep pulling my eye back into the middle.
Repairing the Leakey Roof Of Castle Drogo by sueriley
That looks like a scaffolder's nightmare.... and those blocks remind me of what I am doing, building walls.... a complete maze of scaffold and one solitary worker top right... I feel it could do with a bit of brightening tho'... the translucent roof and walls you were under need "lifting" out of the way.
Basics by MHOL190246
Looks almost as if she's joining two threads.... a lovely macro this, I never realised just how hairy a garden cross spider was.... I must look more closely.... definately construction underway.
Great macro shot.
Camera Strap Under Consruction by johnriley
Just look at that concentration... what he is doing and the way you've positioned the work going on in the picture, makes the host of people vanish! Even, to a greater extent, the one person actually watching.... everything important placed in the bottom third of the picture... except for the top of the craftsman's head.... I like the outsised Trivial Pursuits container with all his rivets, etc in!
Hanging About by garethjmorgan
Nice.... the fact that there are three workmen in flourescent orange is what makes this picture interesting as does the "crazy" finish to the outside... rather them than me.... the architect in his cosy office I think has forgotten the actual process of construction and the type of work involved in achieving his dream vision. They have to haul themselves up as they go... and then abseil down at the end....
Finishing Touches by Nigelk
That is a massive piece of sculpture.... another look of total concentration as minor details are finished to the artist's satisfaction... we, the public, won't notice anything that's not quite right... but he will, every time he sees it!
Love the lighting in this picture... the daylight through the open doors of the studio lighting the front and the artist, contrasting with the warmer light from above colouring the head sholders and the arm reaching out.
A pause in the construction by Noelcmn
A case of what we don't see when the building is finished... and the central pillar is giving me an M C Escher moment. I can't focus on it....
How did the barrow get up there also begs an answer....
Planning permission, accepted by Flan
The focus on the eye of the robin is enhanced by the vignetting.... in fact, everything about this picture draws the viewer's gaze to the eye... I thought the sky was a bit odd at first.... but needed a coffee and as I came back, viewing it from a distance, I realised it is actually a painted shed or fence!!
Don't even think about it! by davidwozhere
More scaffolding and another three workers and yes, the expression on the face of the guy on the left and the angle of the head of the one in the middle.... does require the given title! No more to say....
Nicely composed picture that tells a greater story than the title suggests... leaving me wanting to hear the conversation.... love it!
Nine difficult to judge entries.... thanks, it has been fun!
So many of them telling a story that makes you want to know more......
just my observations...
