There may only be 5 entries but it was very difficult to choose a winner, none of them were what I was expecting but they're all great ideas.

Grey Light - Fran: An unusual idea, I like the way the flower seems to be coming out of the circle (bottom left) giving it an almost 3D look, I also wonder what the colour version looks like.
Swirling Lights - Noelcmn: I love this one with all the dotted lines, curves and different colours. I've tried to imagine how it was done (in spite of the description) but I'm lost....but it doesn't matter, it works for me.
Under Victoria Baths - John Riley: Lovely atmospheric shot. Personally I'd crop a little from the bottom and right side just to concentrate more on the blue area. It definitely makes me wonder what's behind that brick wall at the end. Scary!
Humber Borealis - Garethjmorgan: I remember seeing this effect in the film 'Alien' when he was down with the 'Eggs'
I've never seen it like this but it's very effective and well captured here. Perhaps a slight crop at the bottom as there's a lot of empty black there?
The Face Within - Nigelk: Intriguing shot, this. There are many faces hidden here if you look long enough, Good composition and simplicity with just the two colours works really well. I'll have to try out 'Fibre optics' having seen this.

Well as I said, not easy to choose between them but I've gone for.......
1st: Swirling Lights by Noelcmn
Joint 2nd: Humber Borealis by Garethjmorgan and The Face Within by Nigelk
Joint 3rd: Under Victoria Baths by John Riley and Grey Light by Fran
......it was that close

Thanks all for your entries, showed me something I wasn't expecting, over to you Noelcmn

Thank you for the win, I'll have something up shortly. Congrats to Garethjmorgan and johnriley for their respective places. If you are interested the "balloon" can be viewed here. Hopefully that will help understanding how i got this.

Bravo to Noelcmn for very nice photo of colored lights.
Congratulations to all the other participants for their ideas on a topic that I personally did not find easy. Maybe
Because it is too academic and technical for me.
Congratulations to all!
