Weekly #806 - Farm animal portrait Competition
Firstly, sorry for the delay in posting for the comp. Can we see your photos of close ups of any farm animals which makes them look interesting or unusual. Usual rules apply.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass

Delmar. A great shot that fulfills the requirement of a portrait. Can he really see us from behind that hair which is nicely sharp in the photo.
A bit of a long-shot. This shows what goats love to do in getting up close and interacting with people. I think he knows he's having his portrait done although Perspicador has caught him from another angle to tell the story.
Playful lamb. Doing what animals do and walking in their feeding bucket. Another great shot with the subject in good focus.
Jess. Mans best friend and none better than a working breed. A straight forward shot but still not easy with a shallow depth of field.
Sleeping goats. This is a fantastic shot which I really like. It captures the goats in full face looking restful and the detail is amazing so just wins it for me.
Get off my land. This guy looks like he's protecting his land and he means it. Well captured and I like the way he is off centered.
Who's A Pretty Girl. Another fine portrait and well taken as it shows where these animals survive the best. Super photo and again so sharp.
The Singing Alpaca. This certainly looks like title and who knew they could sing. Shame there is another animal in the background which detracts from the image but you can't organise where they stand.
Le Chef - The Chef. You can see this animal means business and he probably knows it and the photo captures this.
Smile you're on camera. I can just see you asking this sheep to smile and he kindly obliges to your amazement.
Dairy Shorthorn. Another photo that definitely covers the portrait criteria. I find animals fascinating when they look straight at you and this is well captured. I wonder what he's thinking?
Cattle Egret... Cattle Egret. I really like the formation of this photo with the elements drawing your eyes to the head of the cow with the Egret adding additional interest. Yet again the detail is really great.
So the final positions are:
1st. Sleeping Goats by sueriley
2nd. Cattle Egret by dromfit
3rd. Who's a Pretty Girl by tyronet2000
and definitely a Highly Commended to all the others
