Weekly #743 - The Old and The New Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 28/11/2021
Judge: Nigelk

Hello all, this week I'd like to see entries that show something old and something new in a single image. Your image can be taken this week or be from your archives. All entries welcome as long as taken with a Pentax camera or accepted clone. The person I select as the winner is then expected to set and judge the following weeks competition.
So, any image showing both something new and old of any kind of subject matter.
I look forward to see your entries
Good luck
Nigel

Morning All, Sorry for the delay. Monday did not pan out as expected but, I'm back now so brace yourselves.

Perspicador New Fence, Old Crow
First in as so often Perspicador, nice image with the cock caught mid crow unfortunately the dark surroundings have slightly fooling the metering and some detail down the back of the cocks feathers has been lost but, I like that it looks as if it is about to swallow one of the wire joints in the fence behind, looking like a big fat grub.

tyronet2000 Old Slipper- New Ducks
Cutie overload alert! Nicely setup image, great fun, made me smile and as cute as a cute thing. Its as if the ducklings are sailing off in their old slipper boat.

PRYorkshire Old Leaf, New Bud
Lovely and seasonal image, lovely colours, composition and well seen. My one small gripe, I wish there was a little bit more depth of field or maybe a slight crop as I find the bottom out of focus leaf keeps drawing my eye from the main subject but, don't get me wrong I do like the image.

vic cross Old Lion, New Lion
What a lovely thing to have been able to watch and photograph, you lucky so and so! Lovely!

drofmit Almost full circle!
A fascinating collection of flint tools and modern day tools, plenty in this image to allow ones eyes to roam over and a nice concept.

Noelcmn New life amid the old
All the lovely muted colours of the dry and dead leaves and debris with the one vibrant red flower centre stage, gives a lovely image for my eyes to explore with the centre red always drawing my eye back to the middle to then roam around again.

Fodwick Power
Lovely juxtaposition between the remnants of old technology and engineering and the current, I also rather like the pylon in the middle of the frame forming a kind of bridge between the two.

retsoor In for a Penny
Everything is different and yet it is all the same. Nice selection of old and new coins well shot. Not sure about the choice of background myself, I think that a plain black or grey would have held back more whilst better showing the subtle colours and patination of the coins but, nice shot showing a good example of old and new.

Now the positioning,

1st Place tyronet2000
2nd Place Noelcmn
3rd Place PRYorkshire
Well done to everyone else and thank you for entering a great and varied selection of interpretations of The Old and The New. It has been my pleasure to study the images, now on to week #744

Keep snapping!
Nigel
