Good morning everyone. Thanks to all who entered this week. Seeing all the entries has reminded me how difficult this judging business can be as there were several photos that could have taken top spot.

Autumn gathering by Noelcmn.
I like the composition of this picture, lots of detail and very sharp. The more you look at this the more you notice the very suptle variations of tones and leaf shapes and sizes, almost abstract. would make a good jig-saw puzzle.

The grasses lean by Flan.
Again good composition showing good depth of field. the feathery tips to the grasses showing the Autumn browns.

Apple season by mccabebk
Good interpretation of the Autumn theme depicting the harvest season with a lovely bowl of very tasty looking apples- a good still life picture.

Backlit acer by davidwozhere
Acers are made for Autumn photograpy and you've nailed this one. Well cropped allowing the subject to draw the eye down from the top left to the bottom right. The full range of colours from the pale greens to the deep reds all standing out from the dark background with the perfect use of the lighting.

Vanishing point by MHOL190246
Once again an excellent crop and composition drawing the eye through the picture. Who wouldn't want to walk between the two rows. beautiful colours and light with a good balance of leaves on the trees and on the ground.

Luminous leaves by JAK
How wonderful to have an entry from an old Pentax film camera. I am assuming the focussing and metering was all done manually and with great expertise. the exposure looks spot on retaining good detail. The title really does describe the picture well.

Beech by Nigelk
The tones and textures of the tree are excellent and framed with the delicate leaves and foliage to make a great autumnal scene, making me want to explore it more. Well done.

Autumn Glen Tool by Johnwnjr
Very good use of the colours and lighting here by framing the photo to take advantage of the reflections in the water optimised by the panorama format.

Thorpe Perrow Arboretum by tyronet 2000
For sheer colour and visual impact this photo hits the spot, a truly spectacular showing.

Big woods by Perspicador
This photo has an almost watercolour painting feel to it capturing the genle colours as the leaves start to change and before they fall.

Agreed,, superb photo, worthy winner. Congrats Nigelk. And extended to JAK for that wonderful shot of luminous leaves. And thanks for my 3rd spot, surprising, as I thought other submissions were a lot more interesting than mine. Thanks to our Judge for the challenge and the C&C's.

Well done Nigel ! 2nd equal - now there's an unusual result but I'm sure John is as pleased with it as I am (no judging!). Noels' leaves are so beautifully even - just made for a jigsaw puzzle. And to Retsoor, thanks for the interesting contest and for prompt, concise judging.
Both the *istDS and the K5 are incurably addicted to old glass
