Thank you for the entries into 'Moving Water' the judging is based on personal perception of what I see in the photos;

Stillness and Motion:
You can see the power of movement but this sends my eyes funny even though you can feel the force.

Fizzy or Stirred;
The whirlpool effect in stirred is definite but the lighting of fizzy is missing its shadow although a nice idea.

Great Witney Fountain;
I can almost feel the spray from here, good use of 3rds in construction.

Derbyshire Gem;
Nicely constructed picture of farming England but I am drawn more to moving bird than moving water.

A Little Squirt;
An amusing picture taken in the right place at the right time, just a good job she didn't turn to the right which would have changed the whole concept of the picture.

River Avon at Bath;
Nicely composed picture which is slightly let down by being a bit on the dark side especially around the top of the wear, a little saturation and lightening overall would have improved this.

Wyming Brook;
This looks like it was quite a dark area to take the picture according to your shutter speed, f.stop and iso setting, the focus through your depth of field is good so unless it was also quite windy I am not quite understanding the in focus lower leaves and the out of focus top leaves on the bush.

Waterfall & Tiny Truck;
This is an impressive waterfall in Norway but could have benefited from some toning and sharpening.

Rings of Bright Water;
Love the symmetry of the waves of water emanating from the ducks washing. I think that this would have been better in Mono-chrome with some burning and dodging to accentuate the rings.

Cobbolds Point;
Nicely presented picture which in a 'time exposure' competition would have hit the mark, but the smokiness of the waves has turned it into still water, lovely photo wrong competition.

Vertical Lift-off;
This just ouse's movement with the shutter speed giving enough for both flowing water and stationary droplets in the centre.

Wee Waterfall;
A symmetrical waterfall with the blues and greens giving up to flowing water.

Incoming Surf;
This is picture postcard perfect for Cornwall, nicely composed but lacking a little umph.

My Winner this week is - Vertical Lift-off Congratulations.

2nd Place - Great Witney Fountain. Well done.

3rd Place - Wee Waterfall. Well done.

Over to Drofmit for next week's competition.

Thanks for the win.... and congratulations to Noelcmn and Johnwnjr...
it was a fun competition.... thanks also for the speedy judging.
We have a weir at the end of our property that gets photographed rather a lot....
and I have very many pictures I like....
the problem was WHICH one to choose!
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

Congratulations to the winners. Thanks MackemGeorge for the encouraging comments and constructive questions. To get the shutter speed where I wanted it to show movement in the water and maintain the texture, I used a neutral density filter. It was a breezy day and to get the water right I had to sacrifice sharpness in some exposed leaves, which I was prepared to accept. Would it have helped if I told you I was becoming a Sunderland supporter because of the mess at Newcastle??? Thanks again for a suitably challenging comp. John
