Great to see some fine images being posted and some really interesting subjects.

tyronet2000 kicks us off with his tall ship leaving Blyth, and very nice it is too. There is a sort of peaceful timelessness to the image.

MHOL190246 also offers some fine sailing ships, although of a quite different era. Having to call in the tug boat also gives us a bit of a story to go with the picture.

perspicador has left a note upon his door and Gone Fishing...It looks a little choppy on the water, and the image gives us a very good sense of the instability of the small boat.

johnwnjr has the competition title as his title, and totally justified it is as well. I particularly like the reportage style of the shot.

PRYorkshire has Leaving Dover, and this captures very well the sense of mistiness behind as the ferry approaches the lively channel waters after the safe haven of the harbour.

vic cross is sat resplendently at the pride of place at the table, flanked by his good lady and being congratulated on his Wedding Anniversary. The picture had to be taken to capture this moment and this will have lasting value over the years.

My Home and the Sea by flan is still well within the remit of the competition and now looks at wildlife and its relationship with the sea. I do find the colours a little over saturated for my taste.

Gansey Girk from JAK is very interesting and tells me something I didn't know. The technical quality is very crisp and gives a great sense of how the day felt.

Noelcmn and Sunrise in Algoa Bay is a lovely warm picture and the photographer has been well rewarded by taking the trouble to be out and about when others are not.

Carribean Here We Come by drofmit is technically brilliant. It is so crisp and clean, with perfect control of exposure. The letterbox format is also spot on. Yes, we could go for that, looks like a great ship to be on.

So, after careful thought, the winner has leaped out at me and Firts Place will be drofmit. Who else is for the Carribean?

Second place goes to perspicador for a very tactile picture – I can sense the feeling of that boat bobbing up and down on the waves.

Third place to our opening image, supplied by tyronet2000, a really interesting and well crafted picture.

Thanks to everyone for entering and I pass the baton to drofmit!
Best regards, John
