Weekly #674 - Summer Fruit Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 28/06/2020
Judge: MHOL190246

One of the things that Lockdown seems to have encouraged is a renewed interest in gardening, allotments etc for many people. My theme this week is photos of summer fruits such as currants, berries and the like which seem to be pretty abundant at the moment. Feel free to interpret fruit quitew widely. Looking forward to seeing the results

Summer Fruits result
Thanks to everyone who entered the competition. My winner is Jak with the Blackbird shot.

Second is Aitch53 with GlynM coming a very close third

JAK: A well captured shot (pun intended) of the Blackbird with the berry. The detail on the feathers and around the beak is sharp. The K5 + 300mm is a great combination

Aitch53: A nice well-lit shot with some interesting shadows to produce good contrast. The botanical information on the development of the fruit adds to the interest and takes me back to O level biology!!

GlynM: The combination of the K1 with the trusty 100mm macro shines out here. I particularly liked the backlighting which rendered the gooseberry translucent

Emelyman: A well-lit and composed shot which certainly lives up to its title. The fruit looks very tempting

Perspicador: Great use of depth of field in this shot of wild berries in clusters on a Hawthorn tree/bush. Good contrast between the green of the leaves and the red of the berries

NigelK: Ripening Nicely shows good contrast and composition, the out of focus elements serve to highlight the fruit. The stages of ripening add to the overall quality

Viccross: Well I suppose that maybe I should have specified fruit rather than photo of a photo of fruit. That said the presentation was good I particularly liked the range of fruits shown together with the calorific value. It would have been useful to have availability included!!!

Noelcmm: I liked the plums the lighting was interesting and the colour contrast as well

Available at Lidl. I can't go out as I'm one of the shielding lot. So I get my son to do our shopping.
It was just a bit of fun.
Congrats to the first three.
Born again biker with lots of Pentax bits. Every day I wake up is a good day. I'm so old I don't even buy green bananas.

Thanks Michael for the top spot and judging . Congrats to Aitch53 and GlynM for their podium spots. Shame the number of entries was surprisingly thin this week, I thought it would have been a popular subject.
I'll have this week's competition up very shortly.

Always the bridesmaid, never the bride.
Seriously, thanks for the Silver medal.
The annoying thing is, I DO have some shots that include the whole series from flower to ripe fruit - but they were taken with my pocket Lumix LF1!

Some people call me 'strange'.
I prefer 'unconventional'.
But I'm willing to compromise and accept 'eccentric'.

Congrats JAK, awesome shot, worthy winner. And extended to Aitch53 and GlynM. Like JAK, a bit surprised at the low number of entries, given that still life is a popular subject with a lot of photographers. Thanks MHOL190246 for the challenge and C&C's. Always appreciated.
