Weekly #657 - My idea of Fun Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 23/02/2020
Judge: paulb531

Since I retired nearly two years ago, I have been trying to do things I always wanted to do in life. In other words i'm looking for fun and enjoyment - isn't everybody. For me it was cycling Lands end to John O Groats. For this competition show me what fun or adventure looks like in your world. I appreciate not everybody is retired but fun and enjoyment are what holidays are for. I look forward to your entries.

Usual rules apply: use your Pentax camera and you must be prepared to set next weeks competition.

Thanks to all who entered. Perhaps I didnt choose a very inspiring subject or maybe not much fun going off in the world at present who knows? Or perhaps you all have a few guilty pleasures you dont wish to share.

Reindeer ride in Ivalo Finland by rbucknell
Nice image, and everything in focus. Not that easy with a slow shutter speed well done. Only improvement would leave a bit of space in front of the reindeer. That apart it looks like something Id like to try. Ive been to Norway and Iceland but not Finland it certainly looks an attractive option.

Thumbs up, Good to go by Nigelk
You certainly have travelled around a bit Nigel. Did you really live in that truck? A great story and picture documenting your adventure. I have been to Australia a couple of time but never to Africa.
Perhaps a picture of some African wildlife would be a winner.

Hanging around at the Fringe by Davidtrout
What a great opportunist photograph brilliant. I have never been to the fringe perhaps I should make a point of going. A combination of luck, being in the right spot, with the right lens and with the technical knowhow make for a great shot. Im not sure whos having the most fun?

Llanwrllyn to Bala by Perspicador
Plenty of people are in love with trains and train rides - you are in good company. A nice clear shot of this part of the country. Perhaps it could have been improved with an angled shot showing more of the train.

Moon landing by Noelcmn
I thought I had made an easy decision until this was posted. Whether you wouldnt do it or not it still is a clever capture well done. Very simple idea but very effective, using the clear blue sky as the background. Excellent!

Messing about on the water by retsoor
A very tranquil pastime. A good image with plenty of colour. The image is sharp and well composed.

Its all downhill from here by johnjm
A young girl enjoying herself. Looks as though shes not got a care in the world. A nice colourful picture.

The results:

The winner: Hanging around at the Fringe by Davidtrout
Second: Moon landing by Noelcmn
Third: Messing about on the water by retsoor

Thanks for the competition and your swift comments Paul. It was a good subject so its surprising and a great pity so few entered. Many thanks for my first place and my congratulations go to Noel and retsoor.
I'll come up with the next topic later today.

I am sorry I didn't enter this, but unfortunately it coincided with some computer problems and got squeezed out by time. It was a great subject, perhaps we don't have enough fun!
Best regards, John

Congrats Davidtrout, as we would say around here "hectic". As noted, great timing and opportune moment captured. Congrats too to Retsoor. Thanks for the coveted 2nd spot, I am pleased! Lovely challenge!
