With Guy Fawkes night just over a month away and I don't think I've seen a competition for this subject before, I thought I'd like to see your firework (large and small) images to motivate us all for next month.

Thanks all for your entries, only 5 so maybe it's still holiday season.

A nice variety of fireworks so here are my thoughts:

Sydney Harbour: Slightly abstract shot, this one, it looks like it was taken hand held giving the interesting effect, the smooth reflection adds to the effect. Nice
Guy Fawkes Night: Another slightly different shot, lots of smoke with just a few nice starbursts. It;s a shame the starbursts on the right are just clipped, obviously we can't foresee where they'll happen though, i do like the atmosphere in this shot.
The joker: A lovely pattern to this one and i can see why you've given it the title. It looks a little out of focus though.
Starburst: Lovely pattern and colour, it's not easy to know when these bursts will happen and this is pin sharp too
Fireworx: This one has real impact, i've caught this type of firework before but never as good as this shot, the perfect shutter speed has caught the trails nicely at just the right moment. Being picky i would have cropped it to a square format but that's being really picky.

So that's it and I've chosen:
1st...Fireworx by Noelcmn
and the others equal 2nd as they all have their own unique quality

Sorry for the rather brief comments but I'm doing this at 5am before I leave for a flight to Prague

Congratulations to Noel.... and the rest of the podia positioN!
And thanks Michael for the competition.... surely there should have been more pictures for you to judge....
everyone with a camera points them at fireworks!!
And thanks for the speedy judging, too.

"It looks a little out of focus though".... no, not out of focus....
hand held with my old PENTAX Optio LS1100....
1/4 of a second....
genuine hand shake, not oof!
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...
"Give a thousand photographers...
the same camera, lens and scene...
and you'll always get a thousand different takes!!"

Oh dear! And there I thought all my hard work in PP would be in vain! Had a lot of smoke in the background, which was removed! Thanks for the nod, I am honored, amid some fantastic images, and had also expected a lot more entries, given that fireworks are ever so popular these days. I'll have a new challenge up later in the day, just got some admin stuff to do before I devote time to hobbies. Thanks Michael, for the challenge, CC's and judging exercise. And you'r right about the square crop, had not even thought about that, but will receive due attention. Thanks so much!
