Weekly #584 - Halloween Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 23/09/2018
Judge: tyronet2000

An image on the theme of Halloween. I think this is a fairly international event so open to most with photographs from their archives. Must be taken with a Pentax or Pentax clone camera. Good Luck

Thanks to all who entered this competition and although a disappointing number of entries this nevertheless made choosing a winner more difficult.

When the Dead visit the Living by Nigelk
I liked this image as it has the Halloween elements of the ruined Abbey and the ghost which somehow reminded me of Papa Lazarou.

Whittington Witch by michaelblue
An atmosperic image with the Witch backlit in profile in a wood. On looking up the title I found a very interesting article.

Dressed to Scare by johnriley.
A colourful image of two children dressed I assume for "Trick or Treat". I would imagine their quest very sucessful, one for the family album.

Smile you're on Candid Camera by Noelcmn
It wouldn't be Halloween without a pumpkin and was a little surprised this was mainly ignored by the local population. Liked the eyes and wonder if the temptation to tweek the right eye would have ben too much.

Be Afraid...Be Very Afraid by drofmit
Two pumpkins this time and a "Mr and Mrs" pair? Like the lighting on this which give a spooky glow to the background

Winner: Whittington Witch by michaelblue

I have only selected a Winner as the other images were all in the running so Well Done to those.

Congratulations to the winner... and the rest of us!
Thanks for the competition and comments, Stan....
The lighting on my entry, all came from the candles within the pumpkins and a porch light.

France doesn't do Halloween that much... but the shops keep trying.... all sorts of "interesting" masks are available for adults as well as the smaller kids.
Perhaps that should read... "Rural France doesn't...." as the big cities have "Events"... where the need to dress up is paramount!!
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...
"Give a thousand photographers...
the same camera, lens and scene...
and you'll always get a thousand different takes!!"

Many thanks Stan! A pity so few entries, maybe halloween is not that popular, still it is an american import.
