Weekly #578 - Change Competition

Competition Details
Closing Date: 12/08/2018
Judge: Nigelk

I'm open to any photographic interpretation of the word "Change". Usual rules apply, photographs can have been taken at anytime with a Pentax camera or a clone. Competition closes midnight Sunday. Please no commenting on entries until after I have judged the entries.
Change has some different meanings so I'm hoping for a good number of varied entries.
Good luck

Thank you for your entries. I realised soon after posting the competition my mistake. There was a competition not very long ago of basically the same theme, apologies for that.
My thoughts on your entries.

The Old and The New by noelm

A well taken record shot that the theme "change" can be applied. A lovely natural and agricultural scene with heavy industry bang in the middle. I needed the explanation to understand your meaning.

A Change in the Weather by GlynM

This entry clearly depicts change with the three primary blooms from full bloom most central to just past its best and one has finished. The title speaks of a weather change but that's not how I read the photograph. Cropping some from both sides of the photograph would make a stronger image.

Autumn by Perspicador

This photograph clearly matches the title and very much shows the change from summer to Autumn with leaves from green to yellow to brown and orange some of the top foliage having been lost already. Not the strongest of compositions, the bottom right hand bush/tree being out of focus slightly spoiling things but, as an image that shows change it's bang on with a matching title.

Change by johnriley

Another shot that is bang on the money (sorry dreadful pun). I like the mix of the old and dark pennies and the still shiny. It shows change from edge to edge, full of it! If anyone was wondering about the 50mm f2.8 macro they will know from this that it is sharp from corner to corner.

I was once like you by Noelcmn

This one was very close to taking top spot. Clearly and simply showing change and with I think a very nice artistic presentation. The one thing that let it down, I couldn't really find the point of focus on the head that has lost its petals. Your getting second place anyway.

Changing Birmingham by Simonmac

A very busy , built up urban environment yet with the inclusion of the cranes we can clearly see that more development is taking place. Despite looking full, change is in progress. I really like the high contrast black and white choice, suits the subject matter so well.

The podium
1st place Simonmac
2nd place Noelcmn
3rd place johnriley

Thank you all once more for taking part.

Quite agree with that choice of winner, as well the comments about the high key black and white. Busy image, but for all the right reasons. Congrats Simonmac and also to my fellow podium placed Johnriley- had a similar thought for the challenge but then opted for the flower, which has paid off with a coveted 2nd spot! Thanks Nigel for that, as well as the challenge and CC's. As always appreciated.

Thanks to Nigelk for his interesting challenge and his comments. Congratulations to Simonmac and the other podium places. Birmingham seems to be an ever changing place and Simonmac has captured this sense of change perfectly.
