Spotted my entry chosen as winner, so thanks for that Nigel. I'll make a start thinking about a theme for the coming week.

Sorry for the delay in the critic. Third time lucky, I hope.
Thank you all for your entries, my untrained thoughts are below.

1st place Windfall by JAK
2nd place Autumn Feast by wvbarnes
3rd place Yellow Rowan Berries by MikeinDevon

Berries By Perspicador
Bang on subject, with a nice OOF group of berries and branches behind. Personally I think it would be a stronger composition if about one fifth of the right hand side was cropped.

Almost Ripe by davidwozhere
I like the patterns and shapes described in this image but for me it is off topic as cereals are a summer crop not autumnal. Nice shot though.

Arabica in an Antipodean Autumn
Another off topic shot, just too tenuous. Again it is a lovely shot showing both your and the lovely DA 70mm Ltd qualities.

Sweet Chestnuts by GlynM
Back on topic. The spikey chestnut casings nicely described, focus in the right place and the glimpse of the path heading into the OOF is a nice touch.

Windfall by JAK
The nice low angle giving a good perspective is what caught my eye with this shot and the display of the fruity surplus of the season.

Berry Nice! by johnjm
Some form of Cotoneaster I think? Laden with berries and with some of the leafs turning to red, this shot certainly captures autumnal fruitfulness.

Autumnal Feast by wvbarnes
This is a lovely shot. Blackbird very nicely embraced by a crescent of blackberries. We can even see the fruit stain on the end of the birds beak. You will have to settle for second place this time as I feel it is primarily a photo of a blackbird with the fruitfulness being the supporting act.

Yellow Rowan Berries by MikeinDevon
You've filled the frame with this cluster of berries and what a cluster! The edges of the frame are filled with very sympathetic OOF of further berries and leaves. You're on the podium in third place.

Bales of hay by Noelcmn
A nice enough shot of bales in their wider environment but again, this is a little too far off the theme for myself.

Strange Fruit by drofmit
You certainly got a double take from me when I first looked at this shot, quickly heading to your description where all was explained. A nice record shot of this interesting natural installation.

Thank you once more for entering. I look forward to see what you come up with for Jak's competition this week.
Best regards
Nigel

Wonderful winning shot that, and I also like the low perspective. Congrats JAK, worthy winner. And extended to wvbarnes and MikeinDevon which I certainly thought would be on the podium. Thanks Nigel for the challenge and critiques - always appreciated.

Just to extend my congrats to the other podiums (well everyone really too!) I'd have been very pleased to have captured the blackbird's autumnal feast so guess it was as tricky deciding on a winner as it normally is.

Hi Nigel, many thanks for the podium 3rd spot I'm well pleased! Congrats to JAK and wvbarnes, that blackbird shot is just great.

Down here in Devon the berries are everywhere, the cider apples are plentiful and there are loads and loads of acorns, a very fruitful autumn indeed.

Cheers

Conwozzits to JAK... I had that as the winner the moment it came up... the low angle is what did it for me!
Love the other two podia as well... nice.
Thanks also Nigel for a clear critique on an interesting competition.

Nigel, I also did a double take when I saw this one... hence the photo... I then went and searched outthe others...
all were good, but none quite as striking as this one.
I think the artist had got the amount of "fruit" just right for the small tree...

I thought I would get told off 'cos they weren't ripe but there you go. I had JAK down as the winner in any event - super PoV and nice tight composition. Well done.
