Well done all, some great images. Many thanks for the rapid judging as well, it gives the winner a good chance of sorting out the next competition in plenty of time.
Congratulations Moonraker, it's over to you!

Same as David - good comp, but no comments visible? Have they been wiped?

Thanks to all that entered. A strong set of picture which made my first ever judging, not only on this site but anywhere. A bit nerve racking. Hope I haven't offended anybody.
1st Sea Washed Glass Pebbles
2nd Tottenham Court Road Station
3rd Old Meets New
Commended. Glass From The Past, Ventilation & Reflections.
Again well done to all.
Geoff
The Nottingham Tram. Assumed it’s in subject of glass by the driver looking through the glass. Hope I’m right, nice idea. Also like the sides of the trams looking like glass too. High gloss finish on the trams. Well seen shot. I can’t help thinking, ‘better get out of the way’. To my eyes, it looks like there’s a bit of camera shake. A good tripod may help. Sorry if I’m wrong.
Budget Glass. I like the colours of the egg on the right, outshines the one on the left. Nice lighting that looks very natural. Also like the way has spread about on the book shelf. Certainly fits the bill of glass.
Church SGW. A well taken shot of a stained glass window. A classic subject. The colours have come out very well. Wish I could comment of the meaning of the window, but alas I cannot.
Little Glass Swan. Nice study of an ornament. Nice colours. Well blacked out background. Looks kind of comical to me, sort of Pingu-ish to my mind. Hats off to you for eliminating any dust. I always manage to get dust in my close up table top shots.
18th Century Edinburgh Crystal. Would make a good advertising shot. Love the warm tones and muted background. Interesting engraving at the top and nice pattern on the base. Well taken shot.
Celebration Time Come On. Now that’s a lot of glass. Impressive bit of stacking. A nice record shot of the ‘celebration’. Not sure about the background though. Maybe a different angle or moving closer may have helped. Just my opinion.
Glass From The Past. From the past it certainly is. Surprised the bulb is still intact. A good shot that works really well in b & w. One thing bugging me. The diagonal line across the headlight. Can’t work out what it is.
Old Meets New. A nice shot of a reflection of an interesting looking building. Exposure is well controlled and pleasant colours. Nice touch getting the person walking through the door. Intentional or not, I like it.
Undersides. Certainly fits the title. Good imagination to go under the glass shelving to get the shot. I like the colours and shapes plus square crop.
Glass Art. Interesting shot of patterned glass that, to my mind, is helped by the dark section at the top of the frame. It gives an edge to the glass panels. Got me wondering how big the panels are. Shame about the marks of the glass, probably me being a bit fussy. A good shot all the same.
Tottenham Court Road Station. Yep. That a lot of glass. I like the lines of this photo, especially the lead in lines of the escalator. I also like the toned treatment, assuming it has been treated. I think you did well not to get more people if the frame.
Medieval Glass. Another shot with good lead in lines, but from the side of the frame. Lovely leaded window with nice subtle colours, especially on the window sill. Good use of a wide angle lens using depth of field well.
All In A Row. Mmmm. Not sure about this one. The beads and the pattern of the glass are all in a row but, the image looks out of focus to me. Sorry if I’m missing something here but it’s a bit too abstract for me.
Frosty Window. I was going to say ‘go back to it a zoom in a bit’ but I expect it’s thawed out by now. Taken 37 years ago !! The slide has lasted well. I kept looking for images within this image if you know what I mean. Got sharpness to the picture but again, a bit too abstract for me.
Dirty Window. Titled dirty window but actually a picture of a steam train viewed through a dirty window. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s a great photo. Very atmospheric feel to it. Have to say though. The beading looks a bit thin in places and makes me wonder if it’s a sort of mask. Please put me right if I’m wrong.
Ventilation. A nice sharp picture in more ways than one. A good choice to go mono with this photo. I thinks it works very well. Hope the owner didn’t mind you breaking the window to get the shot!!
Sea Washed Glass Pebbles. A nice arrangement of glass pebbles on what looks like glass that has been rendered black to great effect. Nice shot that would look good in print I think.
Love Heart. A good still life shot for the competition. Especially like the little starbursts and the red ‘love’. Competently taken, well done.
Reflections. Kind of like loads of pictures in one. Even though I prefer black and white photography, this is one of those shots where I wonder what it would look like in colour. That said, a good picture depicting glass.
My Lost Marble. Another good still life picture with good control of depth of field emphasising the marble. Nice sharp detail too. If it were mine, I’d have trimmed off the sides a bit. Probably just me though.
Cutting a Dash..... Last minute entry, just caught it. Again fits the bill of Glass creating a good contrast in colour of ruby against the clear glasses. Nice idea and very random arrangement. The harsh lighting brings out the patterns on the glass.

Wonderful challenge, and as always, a stunning range of interpretations and techniques. Thanks Jockey1, for the challenge and the critiques, you did well on your first judging exercise. Congratulations are in order to Moonraker, Mag07 and Nigelk for the podium places, and extended to the HM's i-berg, Simonmac and Paulb531. Great stuff everyone.

With respect to my SGW image, Geoff, it's supposed to represent "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse"

Enjoyed the competition very much, there were some great photos. I'm new to PentaxUser, it's only my second competition entry ("Undersides", taken half-way through the week), so I'm glad I didn't get slated!
But I'm puzzled about the age of the various entries, considering that your monthly competition seems to have a strict time limit. Or have I mis-read the rules?

Thanks Mudge. Just had a quick look on line for the four horsemen. The subject is a bit too deep for me but yes it's a good representation. Thank you for filling me in on that.

The monthly is designed to make us take a fresh photo... during that month.... .... I'm puzzled about the age of the various entries, considering that your monthly competition seems to have a strict time limit. Or have I mis-read the rules?
The weekly... well, that can be taken fresh, there are no rules against it.... or can be trawled from our archives, provided that it is a Pentax camera that you created the image with.... so you will get a mix of dates.... and I did the same thing the other way around yesterday... I decided to enter the red glasses in the monthly as well as this, because I had used fill in flash to brighten the red of the glass.... and then realized I'd taken it years ago.... I put it down to being old, tired and confused!!
Never be afraid to talk about your techniques...

I thought putting the comments before the winning picture was a stroke of brilliance....
shame they didn't stay there... it was nice reading through the comments and then seeing the winner.
And what a cracking shot.... all this weeks entries were a very different take....
a lot of examples to try and interpret in my own fashion.
Great podia shots to accompany the winner, too....
Thanks Geoff for an interesting competition... and very quick, comprehensive judging....
you'll get used to my shot coming in at the end.... rather like Perspicador posting within the first day!
And you commented on a bit of shake on Perspicador's shot... I'm not surprised... have you seen where he was standing!? Brave man!
