Hmm...

I've had to apply a process of elimination - the idea wasn't just a shot from high up, sorry guys/girls. Or looking up. That leaves three.

Daronl's shot of the night street comes close to the idea but somehow I didn't feel as if I was going to fall into it.

johnriley's shot of the upside down girl is also close and is very imaginative. But she looks far too happy for someone about to fall into the abyss. A runner-up.

That leaves the JAK's staircase. Not perfect, but IMO the best of the bunch. A winner.

Thanks! I didn't expect to win this one, although I do agree that just being high up doesn't necessarily induce vertigo so well done to Daroni and JR as fellow podiumers. I've never really had a head for heights and going up a ladder or being at the top of stairs where there is a long drop always induces a touch of vertigo in me. I remember recently worrying about getting back onto the steps I'd used to get on the shed roof; thought I'd have to stay up there!
As I didn't already have a suitable shot for the competition I wondered if the Heritage Weekend might give an opportunity for something and it did. The staircase was photographed at the Bayle Museum in Bridlington. It was either that or one of the lighthouses in the area.
The one I'd thought would win is Tyronet2000's Dovecot but I agree it isn't truly vertigo inducing in the real sense as you can't fall upwards (gravity permitting.)
So that means I have to think of a fresh theme for this week. I'll be back shortly.

Interesting.

Vertigo is an imbalance, a sensation of moving or spinning caused by a movement of the head affecting the inner ear. Usually looking downward as your theme suggests. It is a symptom and not a cause.

It is not a fear of heights.

You don't need to be at a height to suffer vertigo.

I think some of us may have misinterpreted the theme, or perhaps we should have sought clarity.

Well done to JAK and the places however!

Cheers

Congratulations JAK, Johnriley and Daronl. Interesting challenge, and needed more thought. Thanks kh1234567890, a challenge I liked a lot.
