I find myself in the unenviable position of being asked by my brother to photograph his upcoming wedding. It's only a small affair but I'm scared stiff of the idea (Family eh!). I have pointed out to him that he's never seen a picture of mine with a Human face in it but non the less I had to agree. So I'm looking for your favourite wedding shot and perhaps your tips and advice in the comments would help reassure me. Usual Rules apply Pentax and associated cameras |

Hi Folks
Thank you for the entries and advice, especially to Dromfit who took the time to PM me even though he had no wedding shots on Pentax.
As when I won once before I've set myself the task of judging an aspect of photography that I know little about so....
Mr & Mrs by DavidStorm OK not a stunning image but the foreground is pin sharp and has plenty of interest. The blurred background has an aspect of the candid shot about it of it's own so there is a lot going on. I'm a fan of 9/16 crop as that's the ratio of most screens these days and this image could easily end up as the happy couples "wallpaper"
Mr & Mrs by CardiffGareth Colour Pop, what a touchy subject. My old boss did wedding photography "on the side" and did this to everything but never with this much taste! This shot shows skill in keeping the couple the point of focus and is well framed but what I like most of all is how in love they look.
Waiting for the "Punch Line" by Tyronet2000 A lovely candid in what appears to be very difficult lighting. It could be a little sharper but for a shot at 1/6 second that's to be expected. Doesn't take away from the expressions though. A moment in time captured and isn't that what this hobby is about
Bride by Phil123x Everything is right about this apart from one thing for me. I actually like the transparent frame affect but would have used it only of there was a bit more space around the bride so that it didn't cross the flowers or veil. Apart from that it's a cracker
Victoria and Alan by johnriley A nice posed shot in which you had the couple laughing (one of my worries is be able to get my subjects comfortable, I don't think say cheese is going to cut it) Nice light. I think it would have been nice to have them holding hands so the brides ring finger was on show. I have to say the distracting element is the ficus growing from Victorias head. This is something I need to learn to think about.
The Model Wedding by davidhamilton Hehe thank you for making the effort. The bride looks like she might feint in a very Victorian way and the proud father is making a grab to save her. As for your tip, you are sooo right
Honey, I'll protect you from all the storms and tribulations! by ArsenAl I really like this It speaks volumes of making the most of the conditions at hand. It gives the feeling of Heathcliff and Cathy (but with a happy ending) Great use of an ultra wide angle from an interesting perspective. My eagle eyed wife spotted that it looks like the image has been flipped horizontally so the wedding bands appear to be on the wrong hand?
Put a ring on it. by noelcmn Certainly a most important moment to capture (and another thing to add to my to do list, do they even do this at registry office wedding? mine is so far back I can't recall lol) I feel at least on my screen this is a little over vibrant and I might have used a filter to soften the skin a little.
So tough decision made a little easier by my being a life long spurs fan..

2nd ArsenAl
3rd Phil123x

Congrats Cardiffgareth, -they certainly exude being in love, but I particularly like all that confetti floating around. Lovely and sharp-also learned a bit about wedding photography from that one! Congrats extended to ArsenAl and Phil123x. Thanks for this challenge Puggy, nice one. Weddings are such a challenge, and creates more nervousness than anything else.

Afraid I don't have good enough Internet connection in this field in Cheshire to even load the thumb nails so mods agreed this can be judged tomorrow. Maybe a few last minute entry's
