Sombre notes... Deep vibrations

The opening notes of Edward Elgar's Cello Concerto in E minor, Op. 85... deep and moody.... and, arguably, one of my favourite classical pieces. Written in 1919... with the 1st World War still strong in peoples' memories... it seems to create a memorial for the loss of life and the dark shadow that overlays Europe.
