Night sky over the old RAF Ludford Magna

Night sky over the old RAF Ludford Magna airfield.

101Sqn operated Lancasters from here between 1943 to 1945. They were equipped with a top secret radio jamming system codenamed "Airborne Cigar" (ABC). The jamming made the aircraft highly vulnerable to being tracked and attacked, which resulted in 101 Squadron having the highest casualty rate of any RAF squadron during the war
