Man and Boy

This montage was originally shot on film as separate negatives and then combined into one print in the darkroom. I have copied the print to make this digital version. This shows the memory of the boy overseeing the man achieve his degree and the man holding within himself the memory of the boy that he once was. Quoting the end of The House at Pooh Corner: "Somewhwere high in the forest, a little boy and his bear will always be playing", meaning a little of the child will always be within us. This is my son Michael receiving his Architecture degree at Manchester University.
