Got it

by AxelLuther

This time I selected a photo which does not show any technical “gimmicks” but which somehow illustrates the negative impact of group dynamics.
You all know this picture at the wall – for whatever reasons, this is one of the most famous pictures in the world (honestly – I don’t like it). Then there is this giant art museum in Paris – and it seems, that 80% of the visitors mainly go into this museum to see this picture. Actually – they don’t even really look at the picture – they pass it in a slow moving crowed and it seems to be more important, to get it somehow on the photo-mobile instead of really looking at it. Why do they make this photo – the quality of the picture is awful – it is more a kind of “I’ve seen it” certificate – a bit like trophy hunting.
And this picture nicely demonstrates another fact – since digital cameras are equipped with these displays – the technique to take a photo, changed from a concentrated look through the view finder to holding the camera half meter in front of you and looking on the little display (fully distracted by all the other visual influences that take place around this tiny display). These pictures often look this way – they are not composed, not designed, not made with a photographic intension – they are just snapshots.
