Contre-Jour Begonias

by GlynM

A few days before I had been roaming around our small garden in bright sunlight to try out a newly acquired old soft focus lens. Looking at the results I thought that a shot I took of our begonias might work as a high contrast entry. However I was not really happy with the soft focus look. So on the next sunny day, a couple of days later, I retook the shot, at the same time, using a traditional macro lens.

So this is a four image focus stack shot using:
Pentax K-1 with the Samsung equivalent of the D-FA 100mm macro lens, tripod mounted, with settings of 1/80sec, f16, ISO 100 & -1.0 exposure compensation in aperture priority.

All shot raw then processed in LR6 where the contrast was reinforced with some fairly strong adjustments of the tone curve. The focus stack was assembled in Helicon Focus 7 and the results were cropped, resized and sharpened a little in PSE14.

Shot on (Friday) 13th September 2019 at around 4:30pm BST.
