Candle Light Owl

by GlynM

This is a little pottery owl candle light that we have had for years and now spends most of its time neglected in the garden.

Two more of the same little candle tea lights were used, just out of shot, to illuminate the outside surfaces of the owl.

I tried shooting this outside but had too much trouble with the wind blowing the flames about so moved the whole lot into the kitchen to obtain this image.

The image is a combination of two shots in an attempt to balance the exposure needed for the inside and outside light levels of the owl.

Pentax K-1 with an HD D-FA 28-105 @ 95mm
5s for the outsides and 0.6s for the insides.
F16 & ISO200 all in manual.

Shot raw then processed in LR6. The two shots were combined in PSE 14 where the image was also cropped and resized.

Shot on 28/11/17 at around 17:40 but the exif is an hour out because the camera was still set to DST. Which is why the added date/time is just a couple of minutes after the exif shooting time. It certainly took me longer to process than that!
