Bread
by GlynM
In an attempt to meet the requirements of this week's competition this is a close-up image of the cut surface of a loaf of bread, shot for the competition.
The bottom edge is right on the minimum focusing distance for a DFA100 lens. The camera was set to look across the surface to catch some of the inside surfaces of the holes.
DOF issues were solved by performing focus stacking. I set the lens to F18 which I thought was the best compromise between DOF and resolution. I used focus peaking to get a feel for how many shots were needed and at this, the 3rd attempt, ended up focus stacking 17 shots.
Pentax K-1 with the Samsung equivalent of the DFA100 macro.
A focus stack of 17 images all using:
1/5sec, F18 & ISO200
Shot raw then processed in LR5. The focus stack was assembled using Helicon Focus 6. The image was then converted to B&W and resized for the web, but not cropped, in PSE14.
