After the Storm

by GlynM

As often seems to happen as soon as John set this subject the weather here in Surrey cleared up and the even the sun came out. So I have had to hunt through my archive.

I don't have many suitable images and I had to go back a long way to find this one. This image was shot in August 2006 when we had a sudden and very intense rain storm. The Basingstoke Canal which runs off to the right of the picture broke its bank and the water was funnelled by the railway embankment down onto the road. Water was also flowing down the road and through the wall on the left! It was also dark enough for the street lights to come on.

This was shot with Pentax K100D. I am not sure about the lens but it was probably my Sigma 18-50 F2.8 EX DC. Neither of which was water resistant! Hopefully too my photography skills have since improved.

I also have to confess that this image has been in a previous PU competition. It appeared in weekly competition 44 "Rain" in May 2008.
