Outback Icon

The Southern Cross windmill is an iconic symbol and image, inescapably associated with the Australian Outback. These windmills drove the pumps that lifted fresh water out of bores drilled into the Great Artesian Basin. This icon was largely responsible for opening up all of inland Australia for grazing.
