Evolution in Flight
by GlynM
This is a Bell Agusta 609, currently the only civilian tilt rotor aircraft.
It is a cross breed between a helicopter and a fixed wing aircraft. It can land & take-off from helipads but has the endurance and speed of a traditional aircraft.
I'm not sure if this strain will be successful or whether it will get killed of by the Darwinian effect .
Photographed at Farnborough Airshow in 2008 using a K10D with a Sigma 135-400 @ 135mm
F9.5, 1/180sec & ISO 100
