This one is better regarding levels but I did quite like the dark feel of the first one.

It has made a big difference, i can't decide between the two, i like them both.

Thanks everyone for the comments.
Basically I increased the overall exposure but then turned down the exposure of the graduated filter over the sky, used the adjustment brush to lift some of the dark bits on the fell sides and HSL sliders to up the colours selectively. All in Lightroom 5.
