OASIS
by GIULIO57
This is one of my earlier HDR captures(perhaps the earliest…I don’t remember). Anyway I tonemapped 3 different files using PhotoMatix and BW settings. Differences between lights and shadows were enough so to suggest me such a choice. At moment of shooting that light and sky-clouds took my attention and the piece of wood completed and filled foreground in a good way(IMHO). BW was a “must”to give more depth and mood to that atmosphere. Water seemed to be melted lead…and HDR helped file to recover a lot of details(IMHO). This place is a “special”lake in the south of Tuscany(see also my previous uploads named “Orange Boat”&”The long and winding wood-path”). It is a restricted area under the control of an Italian University. Since many years ago (about 25-30 y) it is not possible to use motor boats. In this area live a lot of fishes, birds…trees, flowers in a controlled environment: in other words this is an OASIS.
Date October 2011. Camera PENTAX K20D on tripod. Pentax lens 12-24 mm zoom. ISO 200. F5. I used fast shutter speed(in all 3 captures) because it was windy…very windy(wind coming from North gave a clear and sharp light. This enhaced sharpness of scenery). After HDR you can read 1/500s only in the final processed file(EXIF).

"The camera doesn't make a bit of difference. All of them can record what you are seeing. But, you have to SEE."
