Mount Grace Priory & Tree
by davidstorm
Shot on an extremely dull and drizzly day last week, Mount Grace Priory in Northallerton, North Yorkshire.
This is a Carthusian (Charter House) Priory, where each Monk lived in a separate cell (small house), each with its own garden. You may have heard of the French alcoholic drink 'Chartreuse', which is made exclusively by Carthusian Monks in the mother priory in France.
Mount Grace Priory is well worth a visit, although like all if the great religious complexes dating from this period in England, it is in ruins, primarily due to the actions of Henry VIII.

The wet overcast day adds charm to this restful picture. I've driven close to this on the A19 many times but have never visited it. One day perhaps.
