Red Kite

by pentaxboyo

This is a "real" wild red kite caught high up the Cambrian mountains.I was taking some landscape shots and saw the shadow pass over me.Took 50 shots before I realised I was at F16!!I'll never learn.Quickly changed to F5.6 and managed to get another 50 before he disappeared!!Right place right time.Good lens that 50-200mm!

Dont I know it, I have filled a 4 gig card to try and get a good shot at the Red Kite feeding station at Gigrin Farm Red kites every where but going so fast, like rocket propeled or sitting well out of range, very frustrating.
Well done that man.

Thanks for that,I never go to these feeding stations. It's not natural for me.The Kite will hunt on his own in the wild and he was just gliding above me and just using the wind.He didn't flap his wings once for about 20 mins!!
