A great insight Bill into how you go about creating your amazing images. Northumberland is also such a wonderful place for photography, a haven for people who have a passion for the coast and minimalistic tranquil yet rugged scenes. Thanks for sharing.

Managed to source one, thanks to everyone who helped. I guess for a few people they'll be wondering why on earth would you want one, but I deeply regretted selling my previous one (did it to fund other purchases, like you do). In the hand it might not be the most elegant, user friendly of cameras... but on a tripod it becomes something of an altogether different experience that I'm looking forward to again. Future Classic or Collectors item because of the Marc Newson design, I guess we'll have to wait and see! Rick

Just my personal preference, the most minimal of the colour combos. Although the silver version is growing on me. Basically trying to replace the one I foolishly sold.

Thanks for the offer Barrie much appreciated, but with it including the superb 40mm f2.8 it was a bit more than I'd like to pay. Anyone else got one they're willing to sell? Willing to pay £170 for the Black version (body only) in excellent condition. Rick

Looking for a Pentax K-01 Black Version, ideally in excellent condition without scratches or issues. Not overly concerned about the original box, or whether it has a lens or not, but must have battery & charger. Payment via PayPal and shipped RMSD would be perfect. Please PM me if you've one that you'd like to sell. Rick

Pentax MX touch up paint

Depending on the size of area of the missing paint, Iíve had a lot of success touching up vintage lenses using Edding (brand) paint markers. Dries quickly to a hard finish.
55-300 PLM
Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras
I've owned three variants, smc da, hd & plm. Although I do believe there's a marginal optical improvement as they progressed, it's not massive. The focus on the plm is a vast improvement and virtually silent, although occasionally it still does hunt, it's far less annoying. The girth on the plm is thicker which might be a consideration, but then it also retracts, so a bit of give and take. Build quality is great, and nothing to worry about. If you currently pre focus using quickshift and then snap autofocus using your current 55-300 as a technique then I don't think you'll notice a massive difference in focusing speed. However if you just want to point and shoot is a major improvement. I can't speak of the stability of the new plm motor, other than I haven't had any issues with it.

Embarrassingly this is the fourth one I've bought, I've previously sold them to fund other purchases like K mount lenses etc. But I still keeping coming back to the MX-1, out of all the photos I've taken this is by far the Camera I've most used, since it's perfect for travel, light and versatile. Albeit slow, using RAW allows you to squeeze as much as possible out of the photos and in good light it's more than adequate. I fell out with the first one in Blackpool trying to photograph the illuminations, for that I'd like to apologise to the MX-1, it wasn't your fault, it was my own naivety! Keeping this one for good! I'll keep an eye out in the forums for meetings, I've never attended anything like that before, but reckon I'd enjoy it.
