Love visiting the coast when the weather's grey and overcast and looking for the less polished areas. For me I think it all came about from listening to Morrissey's "Everyday's like Sunday" in my youth. Yours are a great set that really appeal to me. Rick

PU Site Text colourscheme

Hi, I'm not sure what direction to take here, I can add a basic colour scheme toggling option to the upgrades list (light background/dark background), but can't offer a timescale to when it might be done, might not get scheduled for a year or more. I appreciate when Pentax User was reskinned a few years back that as Algernon has pointed out there was much discussion about the comments box, with grey on grey being the chosen option, however it wouldn't be my personal choice, since I prefer a white background, like this sample: What does everyone else think? M42 adapter
Posted in General Photographic Chat
If you're not mounting a normal lens, then I wouldn't worry about it lining up, since it doesn't matter so much. However, I'm not sure what the impact would be of using the cheaper option adapter that's 1mm thick and covers the contacts, whether you'd still be able to achieve focus. May be someone else can answer this, since I've no experience of using an adapted microscope. The ones that are 1mm thick are only a few of quid off eBay, so wouldn't be too much of a gamble.
M42 adapter

There's two types, the first one allows for infinity focus and sits inside the K mount of the camera, and is released by pulling back a little spring. The second (cheap) adapter is about 1mm thick and covers the k mount contacts, this version restricts focusing to infinity. The first option is the better choice, but costs more, a genuine Pentax Adapter can be £30. Before getting my hands on a genuine one, I did have a non-branded one, which fitted fine... just one major bugbear, is that when screwed on the M42 lenses didn't line up with the top, so aperture markings etc were down the side, which I found annoying, With the genuine Pentax one, they lined up perfectly.

Donít hold your breath for a Pentax mirrorless
Posted in General Digital Photography chat
I've returned from 3 different Mirrorless brands to Pentax, there's just something about using a traditional DSLR, especially with the amazing lens choice available from Pentax (and third party) for both the current line and vintage. Although I do have a K-01 which is great on a tripod, I prefer to use my K-S1. Biggest regret, selling my KP... but will get another when the time is right.

Hi go4IT, I've removed the photo, basically a spammer has come along, created a new account and uploaded one of you photos, probably having viewed your profile from the pigeon photo. Apologies for this, but a little bit out of our control. All the best, Rick
Why?
Posted in General Digital Photography chat
Hi, The orientation of images primarily comes down to the device, platform, browser or software you are using based on the exif data as the Johns have rightly pointed out, for example if I view this image on Windows using Firefox the orientation is incorrect, if I use iPad & Safari it's fine, mobile devices having greater support for the exif record. Ideally at the point of upload, our system would detect if there is an orientation record, rotate accordingly and remove the record. Unfortunately at the moment in time this isn't the case, so for the time being, it's a case of ensuring that the photo is the correctly orientated and not overridden by any exif record. The fix is on the upgrades list, but I can't say when it will be completed. Hope this helps, Rick

Thanks for the kind comments, this is the first time I've put one of these grouped photo topics up and was a little nervous that I might get slaughtered for inferior photography. Great to hear for the confidence that some of them are acceptable!
