Lens Buying Strategy?
Posted in General Photographic Chat
Another strategy is keep buying cheaper lenses thinking they'll deliver the same IQ as the best, until you eventually buy the best and costs you twice as much to get there!
Lens Buying Strategy?

Buy initial lens > sell to fund next lens > new lens arrives > sell to buy back the original lens - Repeat as and when you don't have the lens you need :-) Positive you don't have cupboard full of lenses, negative it's costly!
Pentax Spotters Thread
Posted in Lenses for Pentax Cameras
This is more of a not spotted post, it was my son's prom night last night, traditionally in our village prior to the rest of the evening's proceedings there's a bit of a meet up of all the leavers in the grounds of the local castle. I was going to take the KP, but my son asked me not to worried about drawing attention to him, so I respected that. However when we got there, surprisingly there were a few cameras in the wash of smartphones. Guesstimate is may be 10 cameras, with about 100 families mulling around, most were Canon/Nikon with kit lenses, a Fuji with some serious lenses, but sadly no Pentax representation.
Wear on Limited Lenses

babying the equipment to such a degree that they would be difficult to use properlyI should probably worry less about how they look and just crack on enjoying using them, I hold my hands up I'm guilty of being a perfectionist for things like this.

I think with ally you need to use an etch primer that gives the surface for the paint to key to Thank you May be this product might do it 'Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black Touch-Up Pen', used for gun restoration.

thick rubber bands round the focus ring on his lensesIt's a good shout for anyone wanting to preserve the value of their lenses.

Just mount a flash a couple of times and it looks terrible.Yeah seen the consequence of that, would drive me crazy looking at scrapes along the hotshoe mount.
Wear on Limited Lenses

I'm a nightmare for chopping and changing my gear, so to keep the cost down of doing so I buy a lot of second hand equipment. Often what lets Limited lenses down a little is wear on the engineered grip of the focus ring or other milled sections, as in the anodizing has worn off, rather than the aluminum damaged. Has anyone convincingly managed to touch this in before with something that lasts? I've had various goes in the past, but it never looks 100%. Or is it a case you just embrace the lens has history? This 70mm I've just purchase is pretty much perfect in every other aspect, just that wear niggles me.

Thanks Dave for bringing this to our attention and your honesty, I think we experienced some server issues yesterday, especially regarding emails. Thanks for renewing and supporting the site, I've adjusted your Plus Membership end date. All the best, Rick
A problem for new people looking for this site
Posted in Troubleshooter
Thanks for the heads up and taking the time to bring this to my attention. Iíll take a look into it and see if I can improve things. Iíve currently got a lot on with ePHOTOzine, but as youíve pointed out, rank and results should be better than what youíve pointed out for alternative search engines to Google. Iíll tackle it as soon as I can. Cheers, Rick

Purchasing Plus Membership is the easiest way to support the site and help keep things going. I appreciate the additional features don't really mount up to much, so it's more of a donation which is much appreciated. Thanks again to everyone that's Purchased it. Cheers, Rick

No worries, the footer Ad has been turned off too, until the AdNetwork can ensure that it only shows to logged out users. Cheers, Rick

Hi, We've recently switched to a new AdNetwork and in the process of getting the balance of Adverts right. Unfortunately no Ads means no site, we ask you kindly to avoid using AdBlockers since this impacts on the revenue we can earn. We're listening, I've removed the Masthead from individual photos and the main gallery page. I've also put a request into the new AdNetwork to remove the footer banner for logged in users since I have no control of that placement, but please bear with us, since they're in the US and corresponding with them takes a while. Cheers, Rick

Hi, The 'remember me' cookie issue should now be resolved, it was the site now passing through a new proxy server that was preventing the cookie from being written. Worth pointing out though, for it to work, please ensure that your browser isn't clearing cookies on exit. In other news regarding the Adverts, I'll be removing the 'footer' banner shortly for logged in users so it's less intrusive. All the best, Rick
