For Sale - Whole System
Posted in Classified Adverts
Hi John, Peter I did not really know where to peg the price, but after looking on the net I think that a reasonable offer would be about £500 - £550 for the lot. As I mentioned, the kit is brand spanking new condition. Apologies for inferring it was private ... Regards.

Cheers. Thanks for That. I hope that I can find someone though ... it suited me so well .. you know .. read all the "hot shoe diaries" etc .. experimented but my location and time are the issues. I cant really explore all that needs to be explored. I just want to find a decent home. The kit is virtually new so it will be sad to see it go. Thanks for the kind words and advice anyway .. lets just hope I can sell it. Regards Lewis

Hi. I have put my kit up for sale. It is all in really excellent condition, but I want to sell it all in one go as opposed to selling off bits and pieces as I don't really want anything left at the end of the day that I can't sell. Many have said this is not the right way ... but my options are limited now. Here is the kit as it stand: Pentax K200 D (with Grip) Pentax 18 – 55 Lens (with Polariser & UV) Pentax 50 – 200 Lens Pentax 16 – 45 Lens with Polariser & UV) Pentax 360 Flash Gun (with Diffuser) Metz 48 (with Diffuser) Cactus 4 Transmitter & 2 Receivers (Off flash control) JJC Remote Transmitter I Velbon tripod 1 Manfrotto Colour gels for Flash Guns 2 Honl Straps Selection of Snoots, Grids etc 5 in 1 reflectors Nova 200AW BAG Everything is in really superb condition, hardly used and is an excellent start-up kit for the new photographer. My net connectivity is limited (technical reasons) so if anyone is interested, or know someone who wants a really good selection of kit please call me directly. I am based in Prescot, Liverpool. Rev Lewis Coward (07717469944) or home (01514308640) Thanks again
Is the Pentax a Pro System?

Perhaps he just likes to light the blue touchpaper and retire...[/quote] Thank you gentlemen ... I just needed some help and confirmation regarding some of the previous answers and threads. But then .. you are quite adept in making a relative newbie to this board very unwelcome. I'll move off your board. Apologies. Rev Lewis Coward

Sorry for the assumption, from the last messages it looked like you had a deal. I think that I was a bit worried about a non-compatibility issue. Let me explain. I wanted something that was dedicated to Pentax as opposed to a trigger that could work on numerous systems ... I want to be able to fire a flash or two that is out of site and unable to receive an optical "signal". I spoke to SRS systems in the UK this PM and told me that the SECURE LINK was just fine ... Happened to speak to the Flash Centre but then passed me onto the distributors of Pocket Wizard. Apparently, a "basic" system is Pentax compatible .. but were going to confirm this ... Looked a CACTUS 4. and seems OK. Some other blogs I had read talked about the unreliability of the Cactus 4. and therefore needed to raise the issue again. I apologise for making everyone angry and 'suspicious' about my thread ... Thanks again. Rev Lewis Coward

but hey you're a pro right so you should be able to do that. Come on now ... all I wanted to know was simply whether Pentax can really compete in the PRO market. Am I a Pro .. no ... but would like to move in that direction. I just got made redundant with a good settlement. I want to invest in my future and it just seems that NIKON or CANON are hassle free options .. like the trigger for example. So much discussion about it, that is, one tries this .. others try that .. but with Nikon for example .. one can go out any simply by compatible accessories with no problem.

Of course Pentax support isn't going to say a third part brand works well on their cameras :wink:Yeah! of course .. but if they are not going to make a flash trigger .. surely they are going to point you in the right direction - and not lose customers to the opposition because they cannot provide an answer/s. Why does Pocket Wizard not make a Pentax version .. only Nikon/Canon? Surely that speaks for itself. Can you point me to your link where you got your Cactus? Thanks

There are plenty of flash trigger systems that work with Pentax cameras, so if you're in the UK then the upcoming Focus on Imaging exhibition will be an ideal opportunity to look and compare.Cheers for that. BUT, when I spoke to the support line looking for these .. they did not know what I was talking about. I just called the Support line a few minutes ago .. the chap said "off-hand, I don't know if there are any triggers that are compatible with Pentax". C'mon, surely they have had this query before. BUT FOR THE SALES LINE to say they are not pro .. but semi-pro .. really tells it all!

OK .. I made a typo error ... I meant Nikon and Canon .. not Pentax. I just called the Pentax Sales line and they consider their equipment as semi-pro .. not pro.

Looking a what is out there in terms of support, accessories etc ... for example lenses, remote triggers etc .. is the Pentax brand considered to be a pro system. For example, I was looking at the Strobist site and recently reading about the pro shooters like McNally etc .. they ALL seem to use either Nikon or Pentax .. therefore .. is it time to change before I invest mega bucks. Recently I called the Pentax Support Line and the dear lady that answered me did not even know what I was looking for in terms of remote flash (radio trigger systems) solutions. Are there any pro shooters out there that use Pentax .. if so ... can someone let me know. Convince me that Pentax is Pro!

I am looking to fire flashes by radio .. not optically. I already fire optically ... so need to know what compatible triggers are out there and that work.
Pentax Support?

Just called the Support number and bless the young lady ... she could simply not help. I asked her to recommend the equivalent of the Pocket Wizard for the K200D and 360 flash(s). All she kept of telling me was I needed the "f" remote which I obviously don't. Does ANYONE know what is out there that WILL work. I obviously don't want to short the flash/camera, so if anyone can advise if there is anything locally (UK) that can fire one or more flashes (off-camera) please let me know. tks

360 Flash with 50-200 lens?

Does this mean that I can't use P-TTL? Cheers
360 Flash with 50-200 lens?
Posted in Flash Photography
Hi. With my 18-55 Kit lens, the P-TTL (360) etc works as is expected normally. With a 50-200mm lens ... do I go to manual or Auto to compensate for the fact the max on the 360 is 85mm. for example if I am shooting say at 100mm, do I use the Auto or Manual option of the flash as opposed to the P-TTL. Also, if I shoot wirelessly .. do I go manual as well when using the zoom. Thanks for your help.
Pocket Wizard equivalent? Help please
Posted in Flash Photography
Hi Lewis, do you mean with P-TTL contacts or is using the flash in manual or auto mode good enough?Really what I want to do is to fire the flash off the shoe but not using the pop-up to trigger it ... Pref using manual. Thanks
